For The Long Haul

Why were you able to move on so quickly?

If I was the one you loved,

Why did it seem so easy,

To find someone new to serenade?

Did you forget the way we laughed,

Or the way we smiled,

When we were together,

In each other's arms?

Were my tears and fears,

Not enough for you to stay,

Or did you find someone better,

Who could make you happier than I ever could?

I felt betrayed and hurt,

That you could move on so fast,

But maybe it was me who was wrong,

Maybe I missed a sign or two.

Was I just too late to see,

That you've moved on from me,

And found someone with whom,

You could share your future dreams?

Or maybe it was just a fling,

A mere moment of passion,

A temporary thrill,

That made you seem so far away.

I thought we had forever,

That we were each other's destiny,

But it seems you've found someone,

Who can give you what you need.

I'm happy for you, I really am,

But I can't help but wonder,

Why it was so easy for you,

To find someone to take my place.

Maybe I was just expecting too much,

Or maybe I was too needy,

But I thought you would always be there,

To hold me in your loving arms.

Now I'm left alone,

Wondering where we went wrong,

Was it something I said,

Or something I did?

Maybe you just outgrew me,

Or maybe I was holding you back,

But whatever the reason,

I hope you find happiness.

So, why were you able to move on so quickly,

If I was the one you loved?

I guess I'll never know the answer,

But I'll always hold onto the memories we once shared.

And maybe someday, I'll find someone new too,

Someone who'll love me just as much as you,

Someone who'll stay for the long haul,

Someone who'll take me to the stars.

But for now, I'll just move on,

And let the pain subside,

I'll remember the good times,

And let go of all the hurt and sadness inside.

For my heart will heal,

And I'll love again someday,

Just like you did so quickly,

When you found someone else to make you happy.
