Unkept Promises

Commitment is the difference between making a promise and keeping it,
Yet how often we make pledges, only to let them fall by the wayside with an easy forget.

We vow to lose weight, to eat healthy and work out each day,
But soon enough, we find ourselves indulging in junk food and sitting on the couch without any dismay.

We profess our love to our significant other, promising to stand by their side forevermore,
But when the going gets tough, we falter, finding excuses to walk out that door.

We pledge to save money, to invest in our future and secure ourselves financially,
But we give in to whims and indulgences, draining our bank accounts quickly.

Commitment is the cornerstone of success, the bedrock of trust and faith,
It requires discipline, dedication, and the courage to face hardships with grace.

A promise well-kept is a testament to our strength, a symbol of our integrity and worth,
It shows that we value our word and uphold our responsibilities with a steadfast mirth.

But a promise unfulfilled is a stain on our character, a blemish on our soul and heart,
It erodes our credibility and leaves wounds that may never heal from the start.

We live in a world where broken promises are commonplace, where words are tossed aside like trash,
Where trust and loyalty are undervalued, and duplicity and deceit are given free reign to amass.

Yet there are those who refuse to succumb to this insidious trend, who stand tall in the face of adversity,
Who honor their commitments with steadfastness and grace, no matter the consequence or adversity.

They are the ones who inspire us to be better, to strive for excellence in all that we do,
Who show us that our word is our bond, and that our honor is worth more than riches so true.

They teach us that commitment is not just a promise, but a way of life and being,
That it requires sacrifice, perseverance, and the courage to face our fears and start believing.

For when we commit ourselves to something, we place our faith not only in the outcome but in ourselves,
We declare to the world that we are capable, worthy, and deserving of all that we seek to delve.

So, let us pledge to commit ourselves to the things that truly matter, to the people, and the dreams that we hold dear,
And let us do so with courage, dignity, and grace, without fear of failure or social sneer.

For in the end, it is our commitment that defines us, that separates us from the rest,
And it is through our unwavering dedication that we can achieve greatness, and put our hearts and souls to the test.
