Hard Times Reveal True Kings and False Crowns

Hard times show you who your real friends are,
But sometimes they tell you, you have none.
Cheesy, isn't it? But it's the truth,
The times we live in causes us to forget.
We dress up in pride and loathe humility,
The status quo is to make-believe that we have no struggle,
And the society applauds only the beautiful people.
Little did we know that the world's a stage,
Pockets of silence hiding a billion screams,
Everyone's got their secret battles they wage,
Building walls to keep the world from the pain they feel within.

The pandemic came like a spinning whirlwind,
At its mercy, we were stripped bare and naked.
We've lost jobs, money, love, and friends,
Like a thief in the night, it took us unawares.
Like a game of poker, it's now a test of strength,
The mask you wear has now been removed,
Do your so-called friends come running to your aid?
Or do they leave you stranded, with nothing left to gain?

Someone once said, "hardships often prepare ordinary people
For an extraordinary destiny," I couldn't agree more.
The more resistance you face, the stronger you become,
For every difficulty overcome falls the pretender's throne.
You'd be surprised how many people stand by your side,
Friends you thought weren't there until you looked that way.
The coldness of betrayal will shift your pent-up emotion,
Inasmuch as loyalty will reveal true kings in times of motion.

Your true friends won't care if you're up or down,
The love they have for you transcends wealth and status.
They'll walk with you through the valley of the shadow of death,
Knowing too, that their joy will come in the morning.
The essence of true companionship is built on trust,
They've got your back, even when the enemy strikes first,
It's a patched-up friendship that emerges from troubling events,
A bond that endures hardship and returns like the leaves on trees.

Most times, we're all searching for a little sunshine,
A reason to brighten our day and to smile a little wider.
We hardly think about people when we're busy thinking of our pain,
It's like golden words echoing in our ear and melting the heart.
True friends break through your darkest mornings,
A light, a shoulder, and a helping hand to say,
"You don't have to do it alone, we're in this together,
and make sure your needing isn't left stranded.
I guaranty you, friend, words will fail where loyalty stands strong,
True friends fight battles too, but they stand together and fight together.

In the end, friends become family
The bond they share is irreplaceable
They're the heartbeat that becomes the pulse,
They carry you when you're too broken to crawl.
When the world gets too cruel, hold on to them
When the night falls, and the stars shine,
There's no need to fear, for they'll hold the candlelight
As one, they stand, together, in the most brutal of storms.

Hard times show you who your real friends are,
But sometimes they tell you, you have none,
But the thing is, true friends are unmistakable,
They'll walk out of the shadows to hold you,
In your hour of need, they'll stand tall beside you,
Through thick and thin, through struggles and triumphs,
True friends, they're hard to come by; they're a true gift.
