Promises of Forever

Everyone promises forever until they find someone better,
And then everything changes, the promises start to shatter.
What happened to the words we uttered so true?
The vows we made to never make each other feel blue?

We built a castle of hopes and dreams,
But with just a gust of wind, it crumbles at the seams.
We swore to each other that we'd never leave,
But now you're gone, and my heart starts to grieve.

We were once two halves of a whole,
Bound together by a love that once had a strong hold.
But now I see we were never meant to be,
As you found someone better, and you set yourself free.

I'm left here, wondering what went wrong,
Why did the love we had vanish for so long?
How could you forget everything we shared,
All the memories we made, and the times we cared?

Now I'm left alone with a broken heart,
Wondering how to pick up the pieces and make a new start.
How could I have been so blind to see,
That the promises we made were never meant to be?

Perhaps one day, I'll find someone new,
Someone who will love me for me, and be true.
Someone who won't make promises they cannot keep,
And won't leave when they find someone else to sweep.

And I'll learn to love again, to trust and to believe,
That the promises of forever can be kept and never deceive.
I'll find someone who won't break my heart in two,
And make promises of forever, that will always come through.

I'll cherish every moment, every kiss, and every smile,
And hold on to our love, to make it worthwhile.
For I know that forever is possible to attain,
With the right kind of love, that will never cause us pain.

Let's make promises of forever, and take them to heart,
And never let them go, for they will never fall apart.
Let's build a love that lasts, that's strong and unwavering,
And keep the promises of forever, that we'll always be saving.
