Depths of Memory

The past is emotionally deeper than the future,
For what once was, is engraved in our nature.
The memories we hold, are like ripples in a lake,
Waves of emotion, that our minds will continually make.

We try to move on, to leave the past behind,
To find a brighter future, that will ease our mind.
But the past is a force, that can't be ignored,
It clings like a shadow, that follows us aboard.

The first memories we have, are like snapshots in time,
A reflection of a moment, that seemed so sublime.
We may not remember, every detail and sight,
But the feeling of love, remains in our heart's light.

Our childhood memories, a time of pure bliss,
The world was so big, yet we knew nothing of this.
We laughed and we played, without any care,
For life was so simple, we had nothing to compare.

But as we grow older, the memories turn dark,
Our innocence fades, and we're left with a mark.
The scars that we carry, from the past that we hold,
Are like a weight on our shoulders, that we can't unfold.

The betrayals we've faced, the pain we've endured,
Are moments we wish, were forever obscured.
But the past cannot be changed, it cannot be undone,
It's a path we have walked, and will walk until we're gone.

As the years pass us by, the memories become clear,
They hold us like chains, and we're filled with fear.
Fear of what, we cannot truly say,
But the past has a hold, that we can't keep at bay.

The love we once felt, can become a distant dream,
The warmth of the touch, a forgotten scene.
We long for a time, when everything was right,
But the past is a place, that can never truly fight.

Our futures may be bright, but the past remains,
An emotional force, that will never wane.
It's what makes us who we are, the sum of our days,
A tapestry of memories, in so many ways.

So embrace the past, though it sometimes hurts,
For it gives us a depth, beyond measure and worth.
Our memories are a treasure, that will never fade,
An emotional tapestry, forever to be displayed.
