[VOL 9] Safety

Now before I begin, many of you will probably be like "Hey bitch/Mike, where's Immortal and Peril meets Batman and Superman pt 2?" Well... I'll write that after this chapter but I kinda feel like I wrote that just to not write the main story of this volume and I really want to write this volume with alot of chapters. Anyways, enjoy the chapter and next one will be the Rejects meet DC pt2.

Mike wakes up and gets out of bed. He walks out and sees Jess and Jayden's room door open. Mike walks towards the door and sees Jayden asleep on his bed with Casey hugging him. Mike smiles and goes back to his room and gets dress. Mike heads downstairs to see Tobias up and about.
Mike: You ok?
Tobias: Yeah, just need to head home.
Mike: You should be in bed.
Darian: He's fine Mike, just no superpowers.
Tobias: See? I'm good.
Mike: Yeah. Hey Tobez, I think you should bring Beverley and T.J. here.
Tobias: Why?
Mike: To protect them.
Tobias: But Bev doesn't even know I'm a superhero, let alone a gifted!
Mike: Would you rather she be safe or your secret safe?
Tobias: Her.
Mike: Good. And you don't have to tell her about you being a clone, ok?
Tobias: Fine.
Mike: Good, now go.
Tobias leaves. Mike turns and sees Crystal walking out of the kitchen. She sees Mike and turns around.
Mike: Crystal wait.
Mike runs towards Crystal.
Crystal: The hell do you want?
Mike: I'm sorry for saying what I said. But I believe you should bring your son here.
Crystal: Why?
Mike: To protect him. And also introduce him to Casey.
Crystal: Why the sudden interest?
Mike: Because right now, Genius could attack anyone we care about, and If he figured out Jess's identity then he may know about Jason.
Crystal: ... I'll get him.
Mike: Good. I just want your family to be safe Crystal.
Crystal: And Elizza?
Mike: She's basically here during the day, she can stay over until this is all over.
Crystal: Alright, let me go get Jason.
Crystal goes and leaves. Herc and Isaiah enter the kitchen.
Herc: Strange that you're starting to care for the team.
Mike: You saying I never did?!
Isaiah: What he's trying to say is that it's strange that you're actually showing those emotions.
Mike: You got something to say, say it. Don't beat around the goddamn bush.
Herc: Ok. You are a liability to this team. You aren't fit to lead this team.
Mike: I'm unfit?! You're telling me I'm unfit?!
Isaiah: Mike.
Mike: No. After years of saying I'm not the best person to lead this bloody team now someone has the balls to say it, and it's at a time when I'm not even the leader, but second in command?! What gives you right?!
Herc: I'm smarter then you.
Mike: Being smart doesn't make you not dumb.
Herc: That sentance made bo sense.
Mike: And a smart guy leading a team never seems to end well.
Herc: At least it's better then a guy who's barely here.
Mike: What the hell are you talking about?
Herc: You left this team when it needed it you most.
Mike: I've only left this team twice. Once when I shut it down and another when I went to go find myself. I've barely ever left this team. I made this team into what it is. Now if either of you have a problem, then I suggest you look back through pur history and see who lead this goddamn team to victory.
Mike leaves the room.
Isaiah: You shouldn't have done that.
Herc: He's not ment to lead us.
Isaiah: Yeah he is. But Jess is better qualified.
Herc: Yeah. You're right.

(Later)

Tobias walks to the front of the base's door.
Tobias: Come on honey.
Beverley: Just hold on a second.
Beverley walks towards Tobias carrying a baby T.J.
Beverley: Why do we need to stay here?
Tobias: Alright... I'm a Gifted.
Beverley: You?! You serious?
Tobias: Yes. And I'm also apart of the Rejects.
Beverley: I don't believe you.
Tobias shrugs and opens the door. Beverley steps in and sees the entire base.
Beverley: Holy shizz.
Mike: Welcome.
Mike walks up to Beverley and hugs her and lifts baby T.J.
Mike: Hey there T.J.. It's me, Uncle Mike.
T.J. giggles and Mike hands T.J. back to Beverley.
Beverley: Your a superhero too?
Mike: I guess. Does being the Immortal count?
Jayden: Ignore him.
Beverley turns to see Jayden with Casey hiding behind his leg.
Jayden: Bring T.J. up here. Elizza can watch him while you take in all this.
Beverley walks up and Elizza comes out of the room and grabs T.J.
Elizza: Don't worry, I won't harm him.
Beverley: I know.
Crystal: Oh good, she's here.
Everyone turns around to see Crystal holding the hand of a young hispanic looking kid with short dirty blonde hair.
???: Mommy, where are we?
Crystal: Home. And this is my family. Why don't you go upstairs and say hi to Casey.
The boy walks up the stairs and Casey stares at him.
Jason: Hi. I'm Jason.
Casey: I'm Casey.
Jason: Why you look funny?
Casey: You look funny.
Jason: Doesn't everyone look funny?
Casey: ... Yeah.
Jayden: Why don't you two go play with Elizza and say hi to T.J.?
The two boys go into Jess and Jayden's room with Elizza and T.J.
Beverley: This is too much.
Tobias: Sorry honey, I didn't want to put you in harm's way.
All of sudden a red dot appears on the map and Jess appears with Genius next to her.
Genius: You have a new mission. The next phase of the game is in the Gifted wing of the prison. Better hurry.
The screen goes black while the red dot stays.
Mike: Alright, you heard her. Rejects, let's ride!
