As if sensing the occasion, the sky adorned with heavy, gray clouds began to cry. Each tear fell over her like a cold kiss to the skin, a feeling she usually enjoyed.
She stood beside her brother, frowning as he hovered the umbrella over her head, which stopped the feeling.
When she had come back to consciousness in the hospital, neither distracted with a battle this time, she was welcomed by his open arms in her hospital bed. It felt like the past replaying, when the two were younger and he finally got to see her after being taken. She was okay once more, and he couldn't have been more relieved, even if he too had been very hurt in the battle they fought.
Some time had passed since then, and he now stood beside her. The Amajiki siblings were dressed in black, remaining in the comfortable silence together just so they knew the other was there. They weren't much talkers anyways, not unless she wanted to be a teasing asshole.
Her eyes strayed away from the rain pattering on the ground when she heard footsteps, surprised to see a certain blond dressed in the same colors coming toward her with his parents lingering behind him.
When he stopped beside her she found herself saying intrusively, "I didn't think you'd come."
A flash of offense washed over his face as he glared at the girl, "You invited me, dumbass."
It was a nonchalant invite, more of a brief mention as she dodged what was digging at her emotions, yet here he was standing out in the rain.
"But you don't like the rain." She said quickly, her train of thought quickly becoming known.
He already knew she wouldn't have asked him because she already felt weird about this whole thing and the baggage that came with it. He too had been hurt by the party in question so she wasn't about to ask him to come to this thing.
Even still, Bakugo scoffed slightly as he not-so-casually took her hand from her side and held it in his own, "So? You're here, so I'm here." His gaze was forward but he felt the way she relaxed a little from just the muscles in her hand.
Shi Amajiki's funeral service was a difficult event, indeed.
And she stood in hand with Bakugo, her family and Bakugo's being the only ones she noted in attendance when she first lowered her gaze to the new gravestone carved with the name: Shi Amajiki. It was a small service, but that was okay. It was for those who truly knew Shi for who she was... despite everything else.
As she stared at the gravestone, her mind couldn't help but wander as it always did, though it did not stray far from the matter at hand.
No, the matter at hand made her reflect and feel all the pain that still remained embedded in her body. It wasn't apparent on the outside, but beneath her skin was an uncountable amount of scars that she and those she loved most all did their best to stitch together and try to hold close to heal properly.
