Snow White invited the evil queen disguised as a frail, old beggar woman inside, so she could have a bite to eat. After eating a lovely meal, the beggar offered Snow White an apple, as a reward for her kindness.
The dwarves had warned Snow White about not inviting strangers in, so Snow said that she didn't want one. The beggar realized that Snow might think it was poisoned, so she retrieved a knife from her bag, and split the apple in half. Snow White agreed and ate half, while the evil queen ate the other.
As you all know, Snow White was poisoned, but the evil queen survived.
