A wise man was lying on his deathbed when he decided that it was time for him to write his last will and testament. He wrote that his wife should inherit all his money, his sister gets his small island in the pacific, but he couldn't decide which of his three sons should inherit his house. He decided to give them a task.
He called all three of his sons in the room, gave them a few coins and told them that they should buy one or two things to fill the living room. Who ever achieved this, would inherit the house after his death.
The first son, the oldest, Gerard, got some straw. However, it didn't fill the room.
The second son, the middle child, got some sticks, but also those didn't fill the room.
The third, the youngest and wisest son, bought two cheap things, that managed to fill the room.
What were those objects?
