A Good Man Goes to War [Part 2]

Inside, Demon's Run, Hangar...

Two men, one short and fat; the other tall and skinny, were walking toward a lift.

"A whole Cyber legion though. He and this 'Alexis Pond' just blew them all up." The fat man said. "To make a point!"

"We're being paid to fight him, and now apparently, her; not praise them." The thin man responded. "Praising costs way more!"

The two then stepped into the lift, passing two monks.

"Level Minus 23. Transept." The fat man said just before the door slid closed.

Inside, Demon's Run, Level Minus 23...

"Digger says HE once chased the Atraxi off a planet, then called them back for a scolding." The fat man said as he and the thin man stepped out of the lift. "And SHE once shook the whole of what's called 'Starship UK' to save a Star Whale, without even knowing for certain if it would actually work."

"Fight them. Not praise them." The thin man reminded.

The duo then passed the one male soldier and the one female soldier who had been in the nursery. The female seemed to be sewing something as she had a knowing smile on her face. And the male seemed to be drawing something on his sketch-pad as he, too, had a knowing smile on his face.

"Reminder." A voice came over the intercom. "This base is on Yellow Alert. This base is on Yellow Alert."

Inside, Demon's Run, Communications...

Two soldiers were watching the monitors.

"Are they sewing and drawing?" The first soldier asked as they saw the one male and one female soldiers on the view-screen.

"They're on break, they can do what they like." The second soldier replied before facing the first soldier, holding up two pieces of paper in his hands. One was blank. "Now try again."

"That one." The first soldier replied, pointing to the blank piece of paper.

"No, that's the psychic." The second soldier shook his head. "You've got to look for the fractals. Don't look bored." He said, noticing the first soldier roll his eyes. "We're on Yellow Alert."

"We've been on Yellow Alert for three weeks!"

Inside, Demon's Run, Level Minus 23...

Two monks walked along, hands clasped in front of them.

"Reminder, do not interact with headless monks without designed permission." A voice over the intercom instructed. "Do not interact with headless monks without designed permission."

The fat man and thin man then passed by the monks as they took readings off a machine.

"You're not supposed to stare at them." The fat man said, noticing the thin man watching the monks. "And if they think you're trying to see under their hoods, they'll kill you on the spot."

"But why are they called the Headless Monks?" The thin man wondered. "They can't really be headless."

"They believe the domain of faith is the heart." The male soldier spoke up.

"They also believe the domain of doubt is the head." The female soldier agreed.

"They follow their hearts...that's all." The male soldier told them.

The thin man and fat man turned to look at them.

"You two are Liam Harper and Lorna Bucket, aren't you?" The thin man asked.
