A Madwoman Waits for her Madman...

Inside, TARDIS, Kitchen...

"Are you absolutely sure you're alright?" Lexi questioned Jupiter, who was currently making a mug of tea.

"Yes, Mum." Jupiter assured her, yawning as she stirred in a spoon-full of sugar. "I'm just gonna take this cuppa tea and go to bed. I'll be rested and ready to go tomorrow."

"Alright..." Lexi said slowly, eyeing her. "If you're sure."

"I am." Jupiter told her, kissing her on the cheek before walking to the door and passing the Doctor on his way in. "Goodnight, Mum! Goodnight, Dad!"

"Goodnight!" They called back to her.

Lexi just sighed, then turning her head to stare down at her own mug of tea.

"Lex, are YOU okay?" The Doctor questioned, grabbing her hand as he took a seat across from her.

"I will be." She replied softly. "Having the man you love and the daughter you're just starting to get to know be ripped away from you, even for just a minute, isn't exactly....pleasant. And it's really just starting to sink in, that in that minute you and Jupiter were both gone, that Sky was as well. Wherever he is."

"I'm sorry you had to go through that." He told her, bringing her hands up and kissing her knuckles.

"Not like you could do anything about it." Lexi told him. "I mean, you were dead."

"True." He replied.

"And you know what else?" Lexi said, taking a sip of her tea.

"What?" The Doctor questioned as he got up to make his own mug of tea.

"I'm not naive, Doctor." Lexi told him. "I know what you were looking at on the monitor earlier. I didn't say anything since Amy and Rory were right there."

"Do you now?" He questioned, his back turned to her as he made his tea.

"Yeah." She said. "River's journal turned out to be a gift from Jupiter and Sky. Our children. They know she's going to be using it quite a lot with her encounters with you, and everyone else. Mostly you though. Why would they give that to her? It's because there's some version of the future where you don't die. Because if I and YOU are still living and breathing, there's still a chance for them to happen. Why would they give River the journal if they didn't have hope for the future?"

"Well, from their perspective, they've come back to our past." He answered, coming back to sit across from her. "From our perspective, it's our present. They can do that because they've been told stories of them doing exactly that. Stories that I'm sure will come from us."

"It's weird to think that we have kids and we haven't even...you know...yet." Lexi said, looking down at her now lukewarm mug of tea.

The Doctor just about choked on his sip of tea, clearing his throat. "Yes...yes it is an odd situation... But when has anything about our relationship ever been normal?"

"True." Lexi pursed her lips in thought as she held her mug with both hands. "Still..."

The Doctor sighed, sitting down his mug before taking Lexi's mug away from her, taking both of her hands in his and looking her straight in the eye. "It will happen, Lex. It's just..."

"Oh, I'm not trying to push you." She told him quickly. "Sorry if I gave that impression. I know you'll tell me when you're ready."

"Good." He smiled, squeezing her hands and leaning over the table to give her a quick peck on the lips. He pulled away and then whispered in her ear. "Gives you something to look forward to..."

Lexi pulled away from him, eyes wide.

She opened her mouth to say something, but the Doctor put a finger to her lips, silencing her.

"Was that Amy I heard calling me?" He asked casually as he continued to hold a finger to her lips.

"But...but." Lexi breathed.

"Coming, Amelia!" The Doctor laughed as he ran out of the kitchen.

Stunned, Lexi sat back in her chair, a dazed look on face. She then just started smiling like a madwoman.

A madwoman who was still continuing to wait for her madman.
