Inside, Ship, Night...

"Goodbye, my love." Madge said, crying. "Goodbye!"

The ship then just continued to fly its way through the vortex.

Sometime later...

The ship had landed... somehow.

The Doctor came to first and checked on Lexi first, then the Arwell family where they lied on the floor before checking over Yule, Belle and Joy.

"Is everyone all right?" The Doctor questioned.

"Nauseous." Is all Lexi answered with, groaning as she sat up.

"Side effect of a rough landed, I suppose." The Doctor commented as he helped her to her feet.

"Yeah, I don't think that's it." Yule said as he got back up on four legs, Belle and Joy looking each other over for damages.

Lexi shot a look to the horse. "Shut up, Yule."

"Is everyone else okay." The Doctor asked, turning to look at the Arwell family. "Lily? Cyril?"

"Yeah." Lily replied as she sat up.

The Doctor nodded and then scanned the Queen as she laid on the floor.

"Are they dead?" Madge questioned as she sat up.

"No. They're just wood now. They've been... emptied." Tdd answered. "The forest has gone from your head too, hasn't it?"

"But where is it now?" Madge asked as she put a hand to her head.

"The life force of the whole forest has transmuted itself into a sub-etheric waveband of light, which can exist as a--"

"Dear, rambling again." Lexi rolled her eyes playfully, smiling a bit.

"Okay..." The Doctor began, trying to think of simpler terms. "The... The... The... souls of the trees are out among the stars, and they're shining, very happy. And you got them there. Well done, Madge."

"And where are we?" She asked as they all stood up on their feet.

"Home! Christmas morning!" The Doctor exclaimed, smiling before wiping a window to show the house. "We've taken a bit of a short cut. Haven't you always wanted to do that?"

"Mother?" Lily asked softly.

"Look at you. You've been so brave." Madge said as she opened her arms to her children, taking a step towards them but stopped when the children backed away. "You... Look, we're home again, see?"

"What did you mean, watch him die?" Lily asked in a shaky voice. "Where's Father? Where is he? Where's Daddy?" She questioned before she noticed what Madge was holding in her hands. "Why are you holding a telegram? Well, what does it say?"

"Please, just tell us!" Cyril demanded, wanting to know.

"Tell us!" Lily agreed.

"We'll just, uh... Go." Lexi said awkwardly as the three animals all began making their way out of the ship to give the family privacy.

"Yeah." The Doctor agreed, taking Lexi's hand. "We imagine you'd prefer to be alone."

Madge glanced over at them. "I don't believe anyone would prefer that. Stay close, Caretaker."
