Emma's POV

"Well, well, well... look who we have here." I looked up and saw Dante open the door.

"We know you did or said something to Juliet," Jake said getting up.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. How about you ask Juliet herself." He smirked. He opened the door wider and Juliet walked to his side.

"I wish to live with Dante in Miss Avocet's loop." She said in a monotone voice.

"There you go. Now, why don't you just abound or whatever." Then he shut the door.

"Does he mean *abscond?" I asked.

"Not you too." Jake groaned.

"Well, he used it wrong."

"Anyway, we have to find out what's going on!" I said. Jake nodded and we walked around the house looking for clues.

"I feel like a spy," Jake said. All of a sudden he starting humming.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"It's Mission Impossible." He said.

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes.

"Miss Avocet" I called as I entered the kitchen.

"Well hello, dears." She smiled.

"We have a few questions," Jake said.

"About Dante," I added.

"Oh, dear. What has he done?" She tsked.

"Um, nothing." I covered.

"Yet," Jake muttered quietly.

"Well, what would you like to know?" She asked.

"How long have you known him?" I asked, trying not to sound suspicious.

"For a little over a century. He came with me from the last two loops." She replied.

"Has he ever done anything bad?" Jake asked.

"Well, he does have a history of hurting young ladies' feelings. After three ladies, I forbid him from going out anymore, but I saw how much he cared about Juliet." She smiled sadly.

"Anything else?" I asked.

"Um, no. Not I can think of." She said.,

"What's Dante's peculiarity?" Jake asked.

"He has a little mind manipulation."

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"He can control different parts of the brain, like thoughts and what they say. He can also control emotion, but only make sad people happy." She said.

"Okay, thank you," Jake said, and we walked into the living room.

"Do you know what this means?" I asked.

"Dante is controlling Juliet."
