Sorry this didn't get posted last night. I had an interview in Hull today so once the match was over I decided I needed to read stuff about Hull's museums and well think I'm gonna sleep early so it didn't get written. First person in a footie shirt I saw in Hull was our home kit of this season followed by Hull City, followed by Barcalona.

Well I demanded this kind of challenge and we went and failed it. Once again we just got stopped by a team who defends. Please tell me we we aren't gonna suffer throwing away so many points again this season. Maybe Klopp for the most part kept seniors out of this one because they have learnt behind closed doors and we can't have those teams cottoning on to our solution.

I can't believe we didn't manage to boss this game, kids or no kids. We were absolutely mugging them for the ball over and over which was so exciting to watch but then we kept getting crowded out of a shot.

And then the Athletico goal happened. Ward did amazing to put it onto the bar, everyone else though but mainly Klavan and Gomez just stopped assuming it'd gone in so

We didn't seem to recover from that, Athletico were more than happy to defend and the game got rather stale. We weren't gonna score if we played until Christmas! Or were we?

Origi gets fouled in the box and belatedly goes down for a penalty. It was weird he definitely seemed to need to think about it first. I was pretty happy to see the taking of chances like that cos we've been too nice and too fair about those kind of things. Firmino takes and Firmino scores.

At least we managed to bring it to a draw and force penalties.

Yet again I was well up for penalties and still didn't see a win! We had the perfect keeper in Ward after what he did for Huddersfield in the semi and the final to bring them up. He didn't save any of them, couldn't believe it! I want to say that we've improved in taking them since we did get four but it was pretty much just the kids who took them and Henderson who missed.

We didn't get a a preseason trophy double but it's all experience.
