Liverpool 2-3 West Brom

Our ladies won 2-0, Bethany England double after we signed England u20s striker Rinsola Babajide.

The u18s and u23s haven't played yet, the u23s signed Tony Gallcher, another Scottish left back.

I wish I didn't have to write about this one. I've had a pretty good day, slept loads, saw Godkid and his grandparents'  new puppy, a Shih Tzu cross, the cutest, loveliest little thing, had a nice pizza for tea (over did it with the pineapple though) and now I feel crap, thanks Liverpool!

MotM- VAR

(It was it's first appearance at Anfield and it certainly ran the show in the first half, the voice in the ref's ear we could all do without)

We started off brightly, a lot better than the previous game.

Firmino took advantage of the goal keeper being out his net and took the lead.

As I was trying to text my mum (to get the news to my dad since he never has his phone) the equaliser went in straight from the restart. Have the defenders even been told they were meant to defend.

VAR awarded us a penalty, it was so long for the decision to be made. Why didn't the ref just go straight over and see it for himself rather than all that talking and then watching. Also I thought you got sent off or at least yellow carded for shirt pulling, it was an arm pull but Salah was wearing long sleeves so the shirt was deffo also pulled.

Anyone else remember when we consistently scored penalties? Firmino hit the bottom of the bar, so close to hitting the top of the net. In his defence , there was a lot of pressure put on him to net that goal.

VAR saved us from 1-3 and then VAR confirmed 1-3. It all took so long and again, no one knew what was going on! INo idea whether the first was a no because of fouling the keeper or another player or offside. It's such a farce. There were arguments in the summer for 30 minute halves to give more pure footie playing for the fans' money, instead we've got more watching confusion.

With all this VAR nonsense I wondered what games would be like without refs, thinking we needed much less interference from them, not more but then realised it'd just be a free for all since no one would enforce the rules, but would that be so bad?

Also one of the players when they were down injured did the stupid tv sign (which you were talking to him, why also do the sign?!) to try to get the ref to review how he got injured. I thought the players absolutely weren't allowed to ask for it and they should know it only covers goals, red cards and mistaken identity not whether you were fouled.

I wondered what the hell Klopp was going to say in his half time talk to inspire a crap Istanbul (since it's a 4th round against Brom, but at least 3-3 is required or I suppose crap Gerrard final since it's the FA cup).

We ended up with a triple substitution of Milner, Henderson and Danny, Danny Ings! I was like why the hell are we taking Mane off, we're signing the game's death warrant here but it actually brought a lot of good and we looked like we had purpose and we could actually stay in it.

Salah scored and re-raised hopes.

They kept crossing to the fucking keeper! I was getting so mad. I was getting pissed off that keepers are a thing and are allowed to catch the ball as he kept doing so easily. We were pushing and doing everything right to find that equaliser and then straight for the keeper to catch. STOP DOING THAT! Please.

I started getting my heart racing and I told myself no, don't do it, the goal's not gonna come, we are out of it and you knew we were out of it from the moment Brom scored number two. There was to be no crap Istanbul, no crap Gerrard final, no taking the FA cup to another leg never mind another round.

VVD very almost found that equalier with a header in the last seconds but the keeper got it and it probably would've got wide anyway.

I'm legit concerned we're gonna end up giving Klopp the boot and starting over with someone else because of these matches which I really don't want. Hopefully FSG don't go kangaroo court on him any time soon. Looks like we really are going after the Champion's League.

Fucking Pardew's Brom. Disgraceful.

Next up Huddersfield, away 20:00

Despite the previous two games I'm excited for this one. I like Wager, I like Huddersfield, I wanna see more of their stadium than I've seen on Match of the Day cos it looks a cool place, it's name is my parents' beer of choice. Hopefully we'll get back on track now we really have to focus on staying in the top 4.
