MotM- Mohamed Salah

(Again. Scored again. Almost made it fine that Mane's banned)

125 years celebrated, not quite celebrated. It was such a tense atmosphere. It was SO annoying that we get three quarters of the stadium filled with Liverpool fans and Burnley fans are loud throughout and get to go singing is this a library and their bloody booing and jeering at everything.

It's a disappointing result, of course it is we should've smashed Burnley but nope. I'm not that disappointed though because I feel that we didn't panic and just fire vaguely at the net from anywhere. Although I guess that is what we did with 35 shots, 9 on target, 1 in the net and it helps that

I was immediately excited to see Sturridge starting. Put my Sturridge shirt on, shoulda took it back off again cos he had very little luck. He played so well and came so close to 100. I'm so happy to see him fit and back in matches.

We did almost everything right today but it's still gonna be same old news, Liverpool can't defend which just makes it all the more frustrating because we did defend and we kept Burnley out apart from that one moment.

The ref appears to need a quick refresher course on the rules of football. He let Burnley continually waste time, especially with goal kicks (booked the keeper after 55 mins of doing it - made dad wonder if a keeper could be sent off for it, it's happened in Ecuador but let's face i usually they'll just get a million warnings) and encouraging it, telling players off, just book em and get on with it! He didn't seem to remember yellow cards were a thing until close to the end of the match. But most of all he seemed to not know penalties are a thing. I'm not saying we should've got two penalties or even one but he didn't seem to acknowledge the shouts in the slightest.

We could've done with speeding everything up. Taking time to make a decision only lets Burnley get their defence ready and then you've got nowhere to go!

Along ball in to Chris Wood isn't really dealt with by Matip and Klavan and it falls fortunately into the path of Arfield who finishes first time from the edge of the area. I'm not impressed with opposition goals but that was an exception, they completely out muscled us and had the luck for the ball to drop in the right place.

I was scared that, that was going to be Burnley shutting up shop. I really don't wanna watch that game from 26 minutes in but instead they sort of panic and we get our chance to respond. Can belts it straight down the middle, Salah beats one defender to it and with another going the wrong way, produces a great finish with his left foot from 12 yards.

Has anyone else noticed that Salah (and Mane) gets down on the floor and prays but the cameras never show it? I was thinking about that last night, I saw the end of him getting to his feet today. Is that just me making something of nothing or what?

This should really have been the point to really kick on and really use our possession while Burnley were going a bit wild. The luck just didn't fall for us, we just needed one more touch here and there and we would've gotten our lead.

The Kop was certain Sturridge had scored, I was certain too, it was in the side netting. It's one of those where it's coming and then half time comes and breaks it up.

Back after the break. Sturridge's chip is about a foot from paying off and then similar but not as close efforts from Coutinho.

Millner had a right volley. Intricate passing ends with Sturridge clipped the ball over the defence and Milner volleys, but it's blocked by Tarkowski. Why won't Burnley just get outta the way?!

Burnley free-kick comes in and Tarkowski dummies the ball to allow it to go out for a corner. But it is rightly a goal kick. What was the lad doing? Glad he didn't go for a cross though.

Swap the Brazilians for Solanke and Oxlade-Chamberlain.

I want to say we didn't miss Mane because Salah was making those runs but lets face it, we did still miss him even if it gave different players their opportunities.

We keep Burnley from corners almost all match and like buses two come at once and they're almost both scored. Good job Matip's got a head and Mingolet's got a knee. We can't go losing this match now, we're meant to be scoring not conceding!

I was skeptical of Sokanke coming on, dunno why. I need to feel that more often because he went and hit the crossbar/ had the ball saved by the bloody Pope coming from the second penalty shout again with Salah. He was tackled by Mee, Alexander-Arnold retrieved it, crossed straight to Solanke to come so close to that lead.

Four minutes. Don't you jst hate it when you have to spend the extra time begging for a goal?! Mignolet went for long balls and the commentators are like ah Burnley's forced them to change how they're playing, no there's a few minutes left, if we can cut out the middle, it needs to be cut out and we've put that kind of player on with Solanke so shut up.

Next up I hope you lie Leicester away cos we've got it back to back! Firstly Leicester away in the Carabao cup Tuesday 19th September, 19:45.

I can't remember if I've said this before but when Redmen TV started posting about the Carabao cup I was like wtf are they talking about, thought it was something to do with their sponsoring of AFC Liverpool but no after a reason of removing sponsorship, the League cup is back to having a different name for the newer fans to get to know it as, since it will always be the milk cup or the Capital one to me and all it's other names to other people which is probably the most fun about the league cup. I can't wait to see if we go for it or if we decide we're above because we're in the Champion's League.

Results like this is what I get for appreciating other teams. Huddersfield drew too, playing Leicester. Avoid Man CIty and Match of the Day won't be too bad today.

Crystal Palace become the first top-flight team in the history of English football (since 1888) to lose first 5 games and score no goals. - That's a fact I can get behind. Keep it up Roy!
