Redemption

I was sitting on the edge of a cliff, my legs dangling off, I looked to my side to see Toby, he was in deep thought.
"Girl names." He said, "S-starting with B."
"Uhh..." I trailed off, "Beth."
"Brenda." He said.
"Benni." I said.
"Buh... Bonnie." He said.
I chuckled slightly.
"Bethany." I said.
"Beth and Bethany are the s-same thing!" Toby protested.
"No, they're not." I said, "Bethany has an any at the end."
"Beth's a n-nickname for Bethany!" Toby said angrily.
"Yes, but there are some ladies are just named Beth." I said, "Therefore, they're different."
He scoffed angrily at me as I chuckled at him, I placed my hands on either side of me and I felt Toby's be placed on top of mine, I didn't bother looking, the two of us had already fully accepted what was going on.

I opened my eyes quickly when I heard the morning siren go off, I got up slowly and started to look around, I was in my cell still, I looked at my hand to see I was still holding the goggles, I quickly grabbed the notebook and opened it to the last page, I quickly read over the page, if Toby was here, I could do anything, I looked the pair of goggles in my hands, he wasn't here, but if I have this, I can do anything.
"Get up!" Shadow shouted, "No lollygagging!"
I got up and grabbed my mask, I put it on before I slipped on the goggles, letting them rest on my forehead, I then went over to the door and waited for it to be unlocked, I could see quite a few proxies of Zalgo unlocking all the doors, Shadow came over and started to unlock the door.
"Good morning." I said as calmly as possible.
He stopped and looked up at me, he was giving me a weird look, I looked down slightly.
"Morning." He said.
I looked back up at him, I couldn't help but smile slightly.
(Good first step.)
He opened the door and I went right out, I started heading to the training grounds, as I was walking someone stuck their foot out and tripped me, I hit the ground hard, I could hear them laughing at me, I thought about the goggles on my forehead and started to laugh, it made everyone fall quiet, it was a fake laugh but it was the best I could do, I got off the ground as I continued to laugh, I looked at them.
"That really woke me up!" I said happily, "Thank you!"
Everyone there, including Heart, looked both horrified and shocked, I happily walked away, once I was far enough away I stopped my charade, I let my head hang slightly.

I raised my head with pride, never have I been praised for doing something as mundane as talking back to bullies or faking a laugh, I went off alone and started to work out on my own, I was just doing pushups, though I was kind of having fun, I was playing that name game in my head with the demons, going all throughout the alphabet, after a while I heard the siren for lunch go off, I let out a sigh as I laid back, I laid for a moment before I got up, I started heading off to the area lunch usually was, I saw just about everyone was already there, I kept my distance from everyone, I saw Kage and a few other bullies talking in a small group, I swallowed hard, with Toby, I can do anything.

I wasn't, I started making my way over as I slipped my mask off, I fixed the goggles before I made it over to them, they all looked at me silently, Kage chuckled slightly.
"The hell do you have on your head?" He chuckled, "You look like a moron."
I was quiet as I lowered my head slightly.
(Jack, your head.)
(If you're going to do it, go all the way.)
I quickly raised my head to him.
"I wanna talk about yesterday." I said sternly.
He looked a little surprised, probably because I never talked to him before.
"I just wanted to say that the reason I never fight back or do what you say is because I feel bad about everything I've done, and you beating me up is a punishment everyone was too scared to do before." I said quickly, staring right at him, "I wanted to thank you for making my life miserable, it makes me feel so much better about myself."
I turned around quickly and started to walk away, I was standing with pride.

I raised my head more, with Toby I became invincible, nothing can get under my skin now.
"Ow!" I heard Kage hiss.
"Say something!" Sadie hissed back.
"What do you want me to say?!" Kage growled.
I felt even prouder, I was able to stun him, he was speechless, as I was waiting for my turn for food I noticed Jill eating near Zipper, Silver, and another Pokemon glitch known as Glitchy Red, they were having a pleasant conversation, I went over and they all went quiet.
"I wanted to apologize, Jill." I said, "I've been really mean to you because you look like Laughing Jack."
I lowered my head to her slightly, this time the demons didn't correct me.
"Jack and I didn't actually get along that well, and he recently shoved me into a closet and I'm very claustrophobic." I said, "But I've been unrightfully judging you based on him, and I'm sorry about it."
I looked up at her.
"Can... we be friends?" I asked as I tilted my head slightly.
Her eyes were wide with surprise.
"I understand if you don't want to." I said, "I was really mean."
"I'd love to!" She said happily, clapping her hands together.
I smiled slightly.
"Do you wanna eat with us?" She asked as she gestured to everyone else.
Silver immediately looked uncomfortable, I looked at Jill again.
"No, I won't." I said, "I make Silver uncomfortable and I want him to eat peacefully, I'll just eat alone."
I smiled at her.
"Thanks for the offer, though." I said happily, "See you later."
I began heading off to get my food, once I got my food I was happy to see I got a kidney with it, I went off and found a lonely place to eat, I sat on down on the ground and started to eat, I was having a good time, actually, just having Toby on my mind was good enough for me, as I ate I kept thinking about how Toby ate, stuffing his mouth with waffles as he would try to tell me a story, Masky telling him to stop talking with his mouth full, I missed that so badly, I felt someone tap on the goggles, I looked up quickly to see it was Kage.
"So what's up with those?" He asked, "I've never seen you in them before."
"They belonged to a friend." I said, "The kid who tackled me yesterday, Slender's proxy."
He was quiet as he stared down at me.
"What's his name?" He asked.
"Toby." I said, "Ticci Toby."
"Hm." He said, placing his hand on his chin.
He was quiet as he stared at me, I let out a sigh.
"If you want to beat me up, can you at least wait until I'm done eating?" I asked, "I haven't eaten in a few days."
"Fine." He said.
I took my attention off him and continued to eat, I had been saving the kidney til the end so I could savor it, but I guess now I couldn't since I knew I was going to get beat up, once I was finished with the normal food I grabbed the kidney.
"Why kidneys?" He asked.
I was quiet, I honestly didn't know the reason for that, I shrugged as I chewed.
"Hm." He said.
It went back to being quiet, I was somewhat savoring the kidney, a little bit of bliss before the fall, once I was finished I wiped my blood covered hands on my jeans, I then got off the ground setting my tray down, I looked up at him.
"Go ahead." I said, "I'm ready."
He looked upset as he glared at me, I just stood there, I didn't care how much he beat me, I was okay with it.
"You look ridiculous in those things." He said, "Take them off."
"No." I said, "They're never leaving my person now."
"And why not?" He asked angrily.
I was quiet as I looked down, I was debating.

(He doesn't deserve your sympathy.)
I looked at him, he was waiting for my answer impatiently, I looked away from him again.
"Because if I take them off I'll become depressed again." I said softly, "The reason I was able to stand up to you today and tell you the truth was because of the goggles and the thought of how Toby's handling things alone, seeing how he's been made me happy enough to at least try to be happy with this damn place."
Kage was dead quiet, I looked back at him.
"I don't like my situation." I said, "But because I'm an ass I have to accept that life isn't perfect."
I gave him a stern expression.
"But if there's anything I've learned from that twitchy motherfucker is that even in the worst kind of situations there's always something to smile about." I said, "Even when you're the least liked person on the planet, there's at least one person who likes you."
I looked away from him.
"I don't care if you don't like me for any reason, I ain't gonna change." I said, "Because no matter what, I know one person will like me for who I am, even with my self-loathing."
Kage was quiet, I looked at him again.
"Are you going to punch me or not?" I asked, "I kind of have better things to do, not that getting the shit kicked out of me isn't good."
He turned around and started to walk away, after he left I let out a sigh, that was scary.

"I had to." I said.
(No, you didn't.)
(And yet you did.)
"If I didn't say anything he would have beat it out of me." I said, "I feel better getting that off my chest anyways."
I got down and picked up my food tray, I then slipped my mask back on and went to put it away, even though I was certain that after that I was in trouble, I felt I was going to get picked on a lot for everything I've said, but I can't take anything back now, I just have to roll with the punches.
