Whoever You Are
Your hands over lap and you close your eyes
Mom n’ Dad have always done this when they cried
So you open your mouth and speak to yourself because you never knew who they were talking to
Later, you feel the tears,
And begin to sing.
Hold me, oh whoever you are
Tell me, it’s going to be alright (Oh---)
Whisper, any words of assurance
Tell me, the words I want to hear
Your crying turns from one tear to a sob
Your speaking to the air, telling it what is wrong
Even if there’s no response like Mommy and Daddy say
You continue on
Because you feel
The heart ache going away
Take my hand, oh whoever you are
Take a stand, and teh-L me the words
The words that go a li-it-tle like this
It’s alright
