Chapter 9

Sky: "Grey" she says coming into the intern locker room "You and Bailey will be working with a temp attending today, Dr. Kent. He's subbing in from Mercy West. You'll need to get him oriented. Thank you for volunteering to come in. Saved the trouble of having to choose an intern to torture."
Meredith: "Happy to be tortured."
Sky: "Not a fan of Thanksgiving?" she asks as they walk towards the elevator
Meredith: "Not a whole hell of a lot to be thankful for."
Sky: "I like Thanksgiving. It's a day people spend with their families. Too much family time triggers depression, repressed childhood rage, bitter disputes over the remote and way too much alcohol. People get stupid, people get violent, people get hurt."
Meredith: "And that's a good thing because...?"
Sky: "Surgeries, Grey. Lots and lots of surgeries. It's like a trauma surgeon's heaven."
Meredith: "I never thought of that."
Sky: "The stupidity of the human race, Grey. Be thankful for that."

Sky: "Dr. Bailey" she says greeting the woman as she and Meresith walk into the pit and she points to a man "He's right there. Let me know if you need help with anything." she says leaving the two women to go do something else

Meredith: "Dr. Bailey." she says coming in the room where Sky and Bailey are looking over a patient
Sky: This guy's got third-degree burns over half his body. Tried to deep-fry a turkey. Course, he got drunk first. Gonna be good."
Bailey: "You want in?"
Meredith: "My PVS case? He opened his eyes. And I think he was looking at me." she says as the other doctors and nurses laugh at her a little
Bailey: "He wasn't looking at you."
Meredith: "No, he was."
Dr. Kent: "Anything good?" he asks coming in the room as Bailey has the others block the view of the patient
Bailey: "Uh Nothing you want to waste time on. There are 13 patients that need sutures."
Dr. Kent: "She's the intern. She can do the sutures." he says making Meredith look at him a little offended
Bailey: "Actually, she's on her way to CT with a VlP patient. On orders from the Nazi."
Dr. Kent: "Tell him I'm looking for him."
Sky: "Aren't you the Nazi?" she asks when he walks out the room and she looks at Bailey in confusion
Bailey: "Yep. But we're not telling him."
Sky: "Ok" she says shrugging her shoulders "The burn unit is waiting for him. We'll meet in the OR. Grey, get a CT, have neuro consult. But trust me, he wasn't looking at you."

Sky: "Your wife know you're working today?" she asks after being gowned while they stand over an operating table where a guy is laying with a knife in his back
Richard: "I'm going home. I just wanted to watch a bit."
Sky: "Well, don't stay here too long. You could end up like him. Wife stabbed him. Said she didn't like the way he was carving the turkey."
Richard: "Ouch."

Sky: "Who swallows a wishbone whole?"
Cristina: "Dr. Rivers, why are you working on Thanksgiving?"
Sky: "Holidays were never big in my house. My parents worked too much. I usually spent it with Derek and Mark but...not so much anymore" she says shrugging her shoulders "What about you Dr. Bailey."
Bailey: "You work the extra shifts and get the extra practice. I'm trying to get in all the practice I can before the baby comes and I have to take time off. My husband isn't thrilled I'm working Thanksgiving, but he isn't a surgeon so he doesn't get it."
Cristina: "Oh."
Bailey: "You and Dr. Burke?"
Cristina: "Yeah."
Bailey: "He would have made a good father." she says as the door opens and they see Dr. Kent come into the room
Dr. Kent: "They said the Nazi was in here."
Bailey: "He was, but he left. I think he went down to the pit" she says as he sighs before walking out and the two women look at Bailey in confusion "Don't ask."

After finishing up a few more surgeries, Sky goes down to one of the floors and sees Richard standing in front of the OR board making her eyebrows raise in question and a chuckle leave her a little

Sky: "What are you doing here? I thought you would've been at home by now."
Richard: "Just had a few things to check. I'm on my way home now."
Sky: "Something tells me you've said that line 200 times already today." she says chuckling a little making him give her a breathy laugh
Richard: "What about you? Did you call your parents?"
Sky: "Sent them a text this morning. My mom responded by saying they were in a meeting so..."
Richard: "Any plans for the rest of the night?"
Sky: "Not really. You know Adele's going to kill you right?"
Richard: "Yes I know" he says sighing as her pager beeps and he looks at her in curiosity and interest "Got something? I could walk you down."
Sky: "Yea-I thought you were going home." she says giving him a teasing look
Richard: "Adele's already pissed. I doubt another hour or two is going to change anything."
Sky: "Uh huh. I'll make sure they put that on your tomb stone when they bury you." she says smiling as they head into the elevator together
