Chapter 5

Derek: "Is this overflow from Mercy West?" he comes into the ER to see it packed with people

Sky: "Yeah, their...their ER closed for good last night. Everyone's coming over here."

Derek: "Another one of the perks from the merger."

Owen: "Ah, our new attending." he smiles when Callie comes over to grab a few clipboards from the desk

Derek: "Hey. First day back?"

Callie: "Yeah."

Sky: "You picked a good one. There's nothing going on here." she says sarcastically as they all laugh a little

Callie: "Yeah."

Derek: "Thank you." he waves bye at them as he walks away

Cristina: "Okay, where do you want us?"

Sky: "Uh, at this point, anywhere is good."

Jackson: "At Mercy West, we do zones. When it's super busy, we just give everyone a zone, a space. The nurses put a person in that space, you know it's your patient. Helps you get to 'em quicker."

Cristina: "Yeah, well, this is the ER. Not a school yard. We're not playing four square."

Sky: "I like it."

Cristina: "What?" she mutters looking at her in shock

Sky: "It's a good idea. Let's try it. What's your name?"

Jackson: "Jackson Avery."

Sky: "Dr. Avery, Dr. Rivers. It's all yours. Zone away." she shakes his hand before walking away from the group

Don: "I will kill you, you son of a bitch!"

Cristina: "Security!"

Don: "Aah!"

Sky: "Nice work." he says when Sky and him come out a room to see Jackson tackle Don when he tried to attack Frank with a hammer

Jackson: "Thanks."

Security: "I got it from here."

Alex: "Uh, excuse me. Dr. Rivers, uh, you paged me?"

Sky: "Your patient was having neurologic symptoms and you didn't notice, Karev?"

Alex: "Well, I-"

Sky: "Lucky for you Dr. Adamson did and correctly diagnosed carotid stenosis. Book an OR for the afternoon."

Woman: "What about the surgery for his adrenal tumor?"

Sky: "Your dad has a 90% blockage in his right carotid artery. We need to operate on that first. Now I know that's a lot to digest, but Dr. Adamson here will keep you informed, all right?" she smiles at the father daughter before going to walk out the room

Alex: "With all due respect, Dr. Rivers, Mr. Goldman is my patient. I found the tumor."

Sky: "Yeah, and when I operate on the tumor, you can scrub in on that. In the meantime, I want you to help Dr. Adamson the patient for the CEA."

Alex: "But-"

Sky: "Whatever she needs, Karev." she snaps before walking out the room

Izzie: "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you wanted to see me." she comes into Richard's office to find him sitting at his desk and a woman sitting on his couch

Richard: "This is Missy Grant from human resources." he says making her look between the two

Izzie: "You're kidding me. You're firing me?"

Richard: "Stevens-"

Izzie: "You can't do that. You can't fire me for...for having cancer. I'm pretty sure that that's five kinds of illegal."

Richard: "This is not about the cancer."

Izzie: "It's about the kidney patient? I made a mistake. I...but doctors make mistakes in this hospital every day."

Richard: "Yes, but when there's-"
Izzie: "You let me come back after I cut an l-vad wire."

Richard: "That was a different era. Times have changed. Dr. Shepherd and Dr. Rivers had concerns about your stamina and emotional stability. And Dr. Karev has questions about-"

Izzie: "Alex? Alex said something to you?"
Missy: "Dr. Webber." she states making him get back on track

Richard: "In the wake of the merger with Mercy West, the needs of the hospital have changed. While performance is evaluated...the largest considerations are budgetary. There was simply no room on the staff."

Izzie: "Please don't do this to me" she cries "Please don't take this away from me. I don't have anything left. Please."

Mark: "Hey" he comes over to where Sky is walking down the hall once the day finished "How'd your day go?"

Sky: "Ugh" she groans out while putting her head on his arm "I hate this merger. It was bad enough when it was just 5 residents competing for surgeries and now there's all these new ones."

Mark: "I get it."

Sky: "No. You really don't." she shakes her head at him and he scoffs a little pulling her into his arms
