Chapter 7

Teddy: "When a heart wasn't available, I opted to continue with Roy Henley's lung transplant...suggested no pulmonary sepsis. It became clear to Dr. Yang that they were gonna need to switch modalities. The patient was put on ecmo...it's when the pressure gets too high that problems really occur."

Man: "And why did Dr. Yang opt to use the intra-aortic balloon pump over an r-vad?"

Teddy: "I, um...I can't answer for Dr. Yang."

Man: "And why isn't she here?"

Teddy: "She, um...she quit. She left the program." she says as the crowd murmurs

Mark: "I'm sorry. What? She what?" he sits up straighter in his seat 

Teddy: "Dr. Yang cleared the balloon pump with Dr. Mcqueen...who agreed that it was the best-"

Mark: "Go back. Go back. Yang quit the program?" he stands from his seat 

Derek: "Yeah, where have you been?"

Mark: "Well, that's the first I've heard of it. Hunt, what the hell happened?"

Owen: "She told the chief she quit."

Mark: "Richard-" he tries to say something to him but he walks off as he talks on the phone

Teddy: "If we could just finish the presentation, then-"

Derek: "I have a question. Can you tell us about Your decision to put Dr. Yang in charge of this patient?"

Teddy: "Sorry?"

Mark: "But she didn't "quit" quit, right?" he stands back up "Grey. You're joined at the hip. What'd she say?" they all turn around to look at her 

Meredith: "Uh, she hasn't spoken to me about it" she shrugs before noticing how they're still looking at her "Stop looking at me. Look up there."

Mark: "Does Torres know anything about this? I'm calling Torres." he pulls his phone out and walks out the room

Teddy: "Can we please just-"

Derek: "Look, I guess I'm asking you, why did you choose to put Dr. Yang under so much pressure that day?"

Teddy: "I didn't. I intended the opposite. I gave her a simple pre-op checklist on a stable patient."

Derek: "Stable patient? The patient almost died twice." he says making Sky and Bailey give him a side glance

Teddy: "I couldn't have seen that coming. I'm sorry. Is this a, uh, a patient presentation or a postmortem on Dr. Yang?"

Derek: "Well, you saved the patient."

Sky: "Hey you hear about Yang and Hunt's party tonight?" she asks as she walks alongside Derek

Derek: "Yeah. You going?"

Sky: "Yeah. You?" she asks as he hums "You operated on the secret VIP patient?"

Derek: "Yeah."

Sky: "Was it Bono?" he chuckles a little "What. The whole hospital was talking about it. I couldn't not ask." she shrugs and he chuckles some more

Derek: "Hey you mind going with me a little to the party?"

Sky: "Sure. For what?"

Cristina: "We are awesome. I can't believe we did all this."

Callie: "Uh, I-I did all this. You opened one bottle of wine. Could you find where the napkins are, please?"
