"We wish you a Merry Christmas! And Happy New Year!"

It was Christmas and I won't lie I was a little sad because Remi didn't get her pass to come down for Christmas. I really wanted to see her too, but maybe it just wasn't the right time. In fact, I know it wasn't the right time because I was indeed in a complicated situation with yours truly Andre. He popped back up with the same ole song, "I love you" and "I need you", he even asked me to move to Cleveland with him and help him decorate his new house. I told him no to me moving up there cause I wasn't going to do that, but I'd come and help him decorate the place. He took that as the door being open for us to get back together, I guess it's true you give them an inch and they take a mile, but I am not going down that road with him again because I already know what's going to happen and I don't want to be in that place again.

Why you over here sulking, Rei said nudging me. I am not sulking I am just chilling. You're sulking we can all see it. I just wish she could have come to Atlanta. Yall both stuck not being able to travel. Exactly! Well just think in May she'll be here and yall can be together. I am trying to be positive Rei, but then this situation happens I said looking over at Andre talking with the rest of my family. How he was so confident after what happen was beyond me, but he ain't look like he was bothered and they definitely didn't look like they were offended by his presence either. Her father and sister haven't showed up yet? Not yet Li but it's still early, don't worry they'll be here. Just relax take this drink and enjoy the party she said handing me the cup. I hadn't had a drink in over 6 months, I can't say I didn't miss it, but I know I felt better without it. Li it ain't liquor its Dr. Pepper she said laughing as got up and walked away. I took a few sips of the drink and realized that it did have alcohol in it, but not a lot, it was just enough to take off my edge and that's what I needed to sit through this Christmas party my family threw. I finished my drink that Rei brought me and decided to at least socialize with the family a little bit.

It was a quarter to 8 when Remi's family showed up with gifts. Yall came I said hugging them. Of course, we did her dad said. We brought gifts. Yall didn't have to. It's Christmas of course we have gifts. I have gifts for yall too. Now Li you didn't have to do that either Mr. Lewis said shaking his head. Yeah, I did. Is this more family babe, Andre said approaching me? I shrugged his arm off my shoulder while not making eye contact with her family. Andre this is...Hi I am Jimmy and this is my daughter Danielle. Nice to meet you Jimmy and Danielle. Lisa here is my...niece he said looking at me. Oh, this is your uncle babe, why didn't you say so. It's all family no big deal, can you go get me a water. A water he said looking at me. Yeah, a water. Ok he said walking off from us. I waited till he was away before I said anything, I am sorry. He just showed up here. Don't apologize Lisa, you're an adult and you don't have to explain anything to us. It's embarrassing. We understand, I can see why you left his a... I mean though Danielle said. I wish you would cuss little girl. I didn't say it daddy! But you thought about it. I think about a lot of stuff she mumbled under her breath, before my mom came over and whisked her away to go see the rest of the family, leaving me with Mr. Lewis.

That girl is something else. She reminds me of Remi when she was her age. No filter we both said laughing a little afterwards. How are yall holding up since she couldn't come. We're ok, she's ok as well. She sent this for you he said handing me the gift wrapped in purple gift-wrapping paper. She remembered I said looking at the gift. You thought she would forget Christmas? My favorite color, she remembered it. She was in prison, not a coma he said laughing as he excused his self to go and mingle with the rest of the family. Andre apparently forgot I asked him for some water cause now I see his ass over with my cousins laughing and talking. I snuck away from the party to my room to go and open the gift. I undid the bow and wrapping paper carefully as not to ruin it. Wow I thought to myself as I looked at the gift, I always knew she was talented, I mean hell we both were, but I didn't know she was this talented. It was a hand drawn framed picture of the two us of from junior year. The night we had our first kiss. How the hell did she draw this, I lost all those pictures a long time ago and didn't realize that she had copies of it. There was also a journal, she wrote me a poem on the first page of the journal and the last gift was my...well our favorite perfume. She closed out the gift with a letter and then there were some other sentimental things from the past as well. Babe! Babe you up here Andre said just barging into my room. What you doing up here? Nothing! Oh well the family is downstairs ready to open gifts. Oh ok I said putting the gifts back in the box. Who is that from? What! The gift that you were opening? Uhh my cousin, she's back in Philly and sent me a gift. Oh, that's nice he said turning and leaving the room. Cousin my ass I mumbled to myself as I went and put the gift up and because I know he's nosy will be trying to see what it was. I went back down stairs to partake in the gift exchange and spend some more time with my family.
