Being at school without Jasper was weird. Even though Natalia wasn't by his side 24/7, it was still nice to know he was at least in the same building. Natalia had proudly turned their project to which they both got an A on. After being gone for two weeks, Jasper had called and said he is returning that monday. Natalia had never been excited for mondays, but on that she woke up with a big smile on her face. When her mom dropped her off she immediately looked over to where the Cullens hung out in the morning and there he was. They locked eyes and had big smiles on each of their faces. Natalia started to walk over to him, but her friend, Eric, had called her over to him. She gave Jasper one last glance but then headed over to where all of her friends were hanging out.
"Hey Eric." Natalia approached the group.
"Hey, girlfriend." He went to wrap his arm around her shoulder but she quickly backed a few steps away.
"We're just talking about prom." Jessica informs.
"Oh, cool. I'll have to find a dress. I've never been to prom before."
"Neither have we. It's gonna be so exciting!" Anglea says.
"You'll need a date." Tyler said while making eye contact with Natalia. She silently shakes her head no.
"Okay well Ill see you guys at lunch." Natalia walks away and waves bye to her friends.
She heads to her locker so she can change out her books. When she closes the door she is met by a friend.
"Hey, Bella. Can I help you with something?" Natalia asked the Swan girl.
Bella grabs Natalias hand and drags her into the library.
"Have you noticed Edward and Jasper are back?" She questioned.
"Um, yeah. Why?" Natalie responded.
"So on my first day the weirdest thing happened. It was with Edward. I don't know how to describe it besides weird. Then at lunch they looked at me like they knew all my secrets." Bella tried to keep her voice a little above a whisper. She started to walk up and down the aisles and Natalia followed her.
"You're the new girl Bella. Everyone's staring at you." Natalia tried to reason.
"I know but something is off with Edward. Do you think anything is off with Jasper?' Bella asked but before Natalia could respond the bell had rung.
"I have to get to class but Bella, everyone has secrets. You need to stop before you find yourself in a hole you can't dig yourself out of." Natalia warned.
The first half of the day went by fast as Natalia couldn't pay attention to anything the teachers were saying. She kept thinking about what Bella had to say. To her there didn't seem to be anything weird about the Cullen family. Sure they kept to themselves, and didn't really eat a lot of food but every family had their own quirks. Jasper and Rosalie noticed how distracted the girl was. Jasper thought that the brown haired girl would rush up to him with a hug and tell him how much she missed him but none of that happened. Instead Natalia just said hi then only gave him one worded answers when he would try to talk to her. In art, normally Rosalie and Natalia spend their time talking to each other about everything and anything, but today Natalia just had her headphones in when she was painting.
When lunchtime came Natalia was very social with her other friends. This made Rosalie feel like she had done something wrong. Rosalie just spent time with her family, Natalia is the first person that she has ever tried to make an effort to become friends with. Edward heard her thoughts then looked to the table where Natalia and his mate were at. Edward thought that Jasper was lucky. At least his mate wasn't his blood singer and he could still feel his emotions.
Jasper was trying to find time to get Natalia alone so he could talk to her. He saw her getting up to throw away her lunch so Jasper got up out of his seat to walk over there. Just before he could reach her, the bell to dismiss everyone had rang and Natalia left before Jasper could get to her.
The second half to the day went by quick also. Except Natalia had to ignore Alice in their physics class. Natalia didn't want to shut out her friends but she just had to think. What Bella was saying kept replaying in her head all day. She didn't know what to think but as she kept thinking about it she realized that the new girl is probably crazy. Back when Natalia had lived she heard stories about if you stay in the desert for too long you start to see things and go crazy. Natalia thought that could've happened to Bella Swan.
When school dismissed she hurried and got her things from her locker trying to catch Jasper Hale before he left for the day. When she saw him and Alice she ran up to him before they could walk into the parking lot.
"Jasper! Alice!" Natalia yelled.
"You've decided you want to talk to us today." Alice said. Jasper elbowed her in the side.
"You're right. I'm sorry. Just had a lot happening up here today." She pointed to her head.
Jasper just smiled, admiring her beauty. "It's fine Nat. We all have those days."
Natalia looked out into the parking lot for her mom's car when Tyler's van started to slide across the parking lot. She looked into the direction it was heading and saw that the car was gonna crash into Bella's truck. Natalia started to run, to try and save Bella, but was held back by Jasper. He had pulled her close to him. Natalia had seen that Edward had saved Bella. Before though Natalia thought Edward was standing next to his car waiting for Alice and Jasper.
"I thought Edward was over by your car?" She asked Jasper.
"I don't know Nat." Jasper didn't look at her though, he made eye contact with Alice and shared a look.
Natalia didn't know it but that moment, in the parking lot, would change her life forever.
