To say that night was boring was an understatement. After Natalia got off the phone with Paul, Edward and Bella came storming into the house. Something about someone being in Bella's house. Natalia made Bella some hot chocolate while Emmett and Jasper went to try and find the smell. Natalia was worried. If someone was after Bella then they were after her, Victoria hadn't known she turned yet.

Edward paces, frustrated. Alice was stressed. Natalia is worried. Bella tries to keep with the fast paced conversation that Carlisle, Rosalie, and Esme were having.

"Who is it? Someone we know?" Carlisle asked Edward.

"A stranger. I didn't recognize his scent." Edward replied.

"A nomad passing through?" Esme thought out loud.

"A passer by wouldn't have left Bella's father alive." Rosalie informed.

Bella was chilled by the thought. Natalia wrapped an arm around her just as the door burst open. Jasper and Emmett enter.

"The scent disappeared about five miles south of Bella's house." He went and took a seat next to Natalia on the couch.

"Someone's orchestrating this." Carlisle decided.

"Victoria?" Bella finally speaks up.

"I would've seen her decided." Alice tells her.

"It has to be the Volturi." Edward says.

Natalia knew all about his trip to see the vampire kings. While Natalia was turning, Alice and Bella were trying to stop him from exposing his kind. They said that Bella was going to have to turn but Edward wanted to delay that as much as possible.

"I don't think it's the Volturi either. I've been watching Aro decisions too." Alice deines.

"So we keep looking." Emmett said, you can hear a smile in his voice.

"We need to take shift's at Bella's house--"

"Another protection detail?" Rosalie cut Carlisle off.

Natalia frowned at Rosalie. She knew that if it was her Rosalie would be the first person to look out at her house. Natalia was willing to stake out for Bella. She was still technically a newborn, so she could easily take out anyone.

"No, she's right. You can't protect me, watch my dad, and search for the intruder." Bella says.

"And for Victoria." Rosalie interrupts.

"And keep yourself fed." Bella finished.

"I'm not leaving you defenseless." Edward tells her.

"I'm not going to let you starve." Bella came up with an idea. "I wouldn't be unprotected..."

Natalia knew what she was going to say. To use the wolves as a way to help them. Natalia's eyes turned black at the thought of seeing the pack. She didn't want their help.

"No!" Natalia finally adds to the conversation. Everyone turns and looks at her. "We are not getting help from the pack."

She got up off the couch and walked into the other room. Everyone looked at Jasper for an answer. He just shook his head and went to walk after his mate.

••••

Natalia was not looking forward to keeping stake at Bella's house. She managed to convince Jasper that she would be fine with just Rosalie. She needed to spend time with her one on one after they reconciled. They took the first shift then at sometime during the night the wolves would take over. She hoped that anyone but Paul would show up but at the same time she was the only wolf she wanted to see.

"Edward is lucky we are doing this."  Rosalie said while finding somewhere on the ground to sit.

Natalia laughs, "Yes he is."

"Are you ready for the bake sale?" Rosalie asked.

"Yes! The student council has been working so hard." Natalia grinned.

"I'm happy for you. After this past summer, you deserve to be happy." Rosalie told her.

Natalia didn't respond. She just frowned at the ground and sat down next to Rosalie. SInce Natalia found out that Rosalie was the one to change her, she hadn't gotten a real answer as to why.

"Ever since I've met you, you have told me that you wish you never turned out to be the way you are." Natalia looked at her in the eyes, "So why did you change me?"

Rosalie knew that this topic was going to come up. She had successfully avoided it when asked during the summer.

"My own selfish reasons."

Natalia scoffed. "That isn't a good enough reason."

"Seeing you like that, helpless, drugged out, made my dead heart break. Since I've turned you have been the only person outside of the family that I have let in. I couldn't let that go away."

Natalia rolled her eyes. "You should've just let me die."

Rosalie shook her head. "What about Jasper? He was broken while we were away. How would he react if you were dead? My guess is that he would have been worse than Edward. I couldn't see my brother go through that."

"He would have been fine."

"What about Stella and Ella? They would have lost another family member to drugs. What the hell were you thinking, Natalia?"

Natalia raised her voice. "I wasn't! I couldn't think anymore, about how I never mattered to you guys for y'all to just leave like that. Javier showed me that numbing the thoughts and feelings was good, and was okay."

Both girls sat in silence. They stared at the Swan house. Natalia could see Bella's shadow walking around in her room. A part of Natalia thought that their lives would be better if Victoria just took Bella out, but then Edward would be gone also.

"Javier made me feel loved when I was feeling alone. Even if it was superficial." Natalia broke the silence.

"Did Javier make you feel the same way Jasper did?" Rosalie asked.

"I thought he did, but Jasper is my mate, my one." Natalia admitted.

"You might not think it now but I know that I made the right decision turing you. Just like I know Carlisle made the right decision turning me."

Natalia moved closer to the girl. She laid her head on her shoulders and looked out for any potential threat. Natalia knew that she wasn't made at Rosalie anymore. She knew that at the end of the day Rosalie made the right decision.
