Ahri was home alone, chopping vegetables for a salad.
Blaze was running to the store to get more ingredients.
"Ahhrrriiiii..."
Ahri's ears perked up.
"Ahhhhhrrrriiiii..."
"Is someone there?"
The moment Ahri spoke, she knew the voice was in her head.
"Who are you, and what do you want?!"
A sharp pain sliced through her brain as a splitting headache set in. She screamed in anguish and fell to her knees.
Thousands of images of her family and friends dying gruesome deaths flooded her mind.
"Ahhrriiii..."
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?"
"I can help you get out of this... I can end all your suffering... you just have to listen and follow what I tell you."
"A-are you doing this?!?!"
"Why of course."
"Are you some kind of villain?"
"In a sense, yes. At least to you mortals."
"Who are you?!"
No answer.
The pain in her head increased.
"WHO ARE YOU?!?"
"Blaze will be home soon, so you must work quickly."
"WHO. ARE. YOU."
"Fine, if you insist. I am Hades. I am death itself. You were supposed to be mine a long long time ago. I've finally come to take what's mine."
"Stop, please!"
"Go to your bedroom."
"No!"
"We'll see about that."
Ahri's body began moving on its own as images and memories overwhelmed her brain.
"The safe."
Everything she's ever been through.
Every memory of every person she's used her quirk on.
They all blended together.
She couldn't tell which were hers.
Tiny bits of voices and memories echoed and swirled around in an endless cyclone of misery.
"It's not gonna happen, kid."
"You're a monster!"
"I'm sorry, Izuku. I wish things were different."
"Giana?!"
"Quirkless wannabe."
"Mama? What are you talking about?"
"How could you?!?"
"You're not like other kids."
"They live a different life than you do Shoto."
"Go take a swan dive off the roof and pray you'll be born with a quirk in your next life."
