Strolling through the gardens of Gaunt Manor, August held tight in hand a purse which kept her wand and the two way mirror in hand. It was her second day back, and she already missed her friends so much.

Somewhat missing the group of four infamous golden boys as well.

Taking a slow turn, with Aspen following behind she stopped in the center of many rows of pure white roses. She smiled softly at the flowers were so strong, but it seemed to fade away when she saw a singular rose beginning to decay. Walking forwards, August couldn't help but be confused as she looked at  the flower that seemed to be eating itself from within.

She knew very well that the soil under their home had strong magic roaming within, strong magic that kept their large gardens alive for decades. Possibly, centuries. So why was it dying?

Absent-mindedly, August's hand reached into her purse where she had a few necessities. She looked at the two way mirror to see Sirius' roof, a small smile on her lips, but she ignored it and grabbed the small scissors.

Cutting the flower gently, she placed it into her bag before putting the scissors in as well. But she smiled softly when she saw the familiar face staring at her intently, pulling out the mirror she smiled even more when she saw his grin widening. "Hello, Sirius."

"Bonjour." He said to her softly and she couldn't help but smile. "What's on your agenda for today?"

It was only nine o'clock now, and August had already planned to do something's for most of her day. Walk the grounds of the manor, begin to change her room and books, sketch a new room design for her room (which would be two stories), help her mother with some of the ball preparations which was now only six days away.

"Oh, you know, all sorts." August grinned as she walked through the garden once more. "But for now, I'll keep walking the gardens."

"Lovely." He smiled at her. The two talked more, Hogwarts being the hot-topic. Then she remembered her mother and her's conversation yesterday at the table.

"Sirius." August said softly, the boy looked up from where he was looking at the paper and silenced himself. Brow's raised. "I've asked my mother to invite the Potter's, Pettigrew's, Longbottom's and Fortescue's... I'm helping present the ball."

"That's amazing! Isn't it?"

"I hope so... if my mother and brother don't like them because their Gryffindor's then I don't what I'm going to do." She said. Her voice a vulnerable whisper, the boy couldn't help but feel upset and worried for his friend.

"I'm sure Prongs will present himself nicely."

August chuckled softly before she reached the familiar pond that was filled with hundreds of koi fish from all around the world, underneath the frozen surface. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah.." August said softly, "I just miss home."

"But you are home?"

"No. This is just a mansion in the middle of nowhere. Hogwarts is my home." She said looking in the mirror to meet his eyes. "I miss my friends, Minnie..." A sigh escaping her lips as she looked away from the mirror with sad-eyes.

"Am I one of those friends?" He asked her and August couldn't help but chuckle.

"Of course you are." She said smiling at the mirror.

"There's that smile!"

There was a peaceful silence as the two sat with the mirror in hand. August looking at her surroundings of the garden, while Sirius looked at the world outside of his window. Then August squealed.

The boy quickly rushed to ask her questions, panic in his voice. But then he saw her eyes lighting up as white specs fell in front of her face. Dropping into her hair and resting there due to her fur cloak being down.

"It's snowing!" She said smiling into the mirror. The boy only smiling wider.

August loved the snow, winter. She loved to ice skate (even if her mother never knew, it was something she and her father did), she loved the feeling of snow falling onto her porcelain skin, falling cold onto her tongue.

She grinned as she spun in a circle with her tongue sticking out, Sirius watched her from the fountain. August left the mirror sitting up so he could see that she was safe. But as the snow fell harder, August grabbed the mirror and ran through the maze garden before landing on the porch of their home.

Smiling as she looked at the snow in front, but as the door opened, August looked behind her and saw her mother peaking around the door. "August, get inside will you? You're going to be sick and that means you cannot attend the ball." Her mother said coldly before August mumbled a yes, mother. "August, you know how much I hate the mumbling."

"I apologize, Mother." August said with her voice louder and clearer.

"Yes, well, hurry up."

The door slammed shut and August muttered a few words to her self before looking at the mirror's eyes, "Sirius?"

"I'm here."

"I have to go. I'll talk to you tonight." She whispered to him. A smile tugging on his lips.

"Don't miss me too much." He chuckled.

"Ha ha, very funny. Stay safe." She whispered to him once again before placing the mirror in her bag and entering the house. Taking the cloak off, and unfortunately, just like how her mother wants her to be, walked through the entire house with her snow covered boots on.

The smallest elf, Pluto, appeared straight away and mopped the mess up quickly. August gave the elf a sympathetic yet grateful smile before proceeding to walk through the house.

"August!" Her mother called as the woman walked through the hallway.

Throwing the mirror underneath her bed, August shot up, and opened her door. "Yes, mother?"

"Dress nicely, the gowns are ready to be picked up." Her mother said before exiting her room. August let out a silent sigh as she closed her door before crawling under her bed to pull out the mirror.

"Your gown, huh?"

"I didn't even get to decide what colour, the type of gown, nothing." August muttered as she walked towards where another blue velvet cloak was, fur on the inside to keep her warm. She placed another pair of boots on, and felt herself walk towards the mirror. "I'm afraid this is where we part for today.

"I'll wait for you to come back." He said grinning and she softly smiled at the boy.

"However, you're not going to see my gown until the ball." She grinned cheekily before walking towards a mirror, "I shall see you when I return."

"As will I."

August grinned softly before placing the mirror into her drawer and walking through the large house. Her mother waiting patiently at the door, August pulled the braid that was behind her neck to sit on her shoulder where she smiled softly at her mother.

"You know what to do. Do not mutter a word to Mudblood's and Half-bloods."

"Yes, mother."
