Same Warnings and relationship

Starts after Xisuma picks up Grian's call.

~***~

Grian breathed as steadily as he could when his bedroom door opened and he heard footsteps entering. He knew Xisuma's footsteps and they weren't his. Those were the one of his babysitter Sam. He closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep.

"So pretty." He heard Sam whisper, "Such a good little boy."

Grian waited for the footsteps to retreat. Which they didn't... Not for a while anyways. He felt Sam's breathing against his neck before he walked out of the room. When he heard the door shut, he carefully looked over to ensure that Sam was gone. He then lent over to his top drawer on his nightstand and pulled out an emergency phone which only had emergency numbers in it.

He called Xisuma. He answered almost immediately.

"Grian? You okay?"

Grian heard footsteps approaching his door and he immediately hung up the call then attempted to hide the phone but Sam had opened the door.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Sam demanded, storming over and grabbing the phone out of Grian's hand, "Where did you get this?!"

"I-"

The phone started ringing and Sam was quick to ignore the call, "None of this. You hear me?"

"Y-Yes Sam..."

Sam slapped Grian across the face, "I TOLD YOU, YOU DON'T CALL ME BY MY NAME!"

Grian scooted away from Sam but he grabbed Grian's wrist and pulled him out of the bed. He then forced Grian to bend over the bed and he beat him until Grian was a crying mess.

"NOW GO TO BED AND STAY THERE! YOU HEAR ME KID?"

"Y-Ye-es Si-ir." Grian hiccuped, then climbed into the bed and under the covers, burying his face in his pillow and inevitably crying himself to sleep half an hour later.

The next morning when Xisuma got back, he woke Grian and cooked the young  boy breakfast.

"Hey Gri?"

"Yes?"

"Why'd you use the emergency phone last night? I answered and you immediately hung up. What happened?"

"N-Nothing..." Grian said, eating the pancakes Xisuma made, "It was a mistake to call."

Xisuma frowned at Grian's response, "Hey. You know you can speak to me. What happened last night?"

"I told you nothing happened!" Grian shouted, slamming the fork on the table, then running back to his room after shouting, "Now leave me alone!"

Xisuma watched as Grian ran to his room and slammed his bedroom door. He knew something was wrong, but Grian wouldn't tell him.

Xisuma looked over Grian while he was helping clean him that night. He spotted something that concerned him, "Grian? How'd you get the bruise on the back of your shoulder?"

"Hit the door too hard."

"With the back of your shoulder?"

"I tripped and fell backwards."

Xisuma knew he was lying, but he couldn't necessarily say anything without him going into a fit again.

Within the next two days, he notices more bruises on his kid and decided to call Sam for a chit chat. Grian sat beside Xisuma, "I want to know why Grian's covered in bruises."

"The kid plays rough. What can I say?"

"Grian doesn't like to play rough. Why is he covered in bruises?"

"He did it to himself."

That night, instead of calling Sam that night to watch over Grian, Xisuma called one of the other hermits, he was lucky enough to get Ren to watch him. When it was about midnight, he got a call from Ren about some suspicious activity outside the home.

After taking a look, he found nothing and told Ren that everything was okay. However, Grian apparently didn't sleep that night.

He slept through the day and just stayed with Xisuma.

The next night however, Xisuma was on patrol when he suddenly got a call about an injured child. But for Xisuma, he was called straight to the hospital.

Xisuma ran through the hospital to the room he needed to be in and when he did, he found Grian asleep in the bed.

"What the hell happened to my kid!?"

"The babysitter called in an emergency when the boy hit a glass cabinet."

Xisuma jumped back, "I don't have glass cabinets! Arrest him for child abuse!"

"We don't have any proof-"

"I. Don't. Care. Grian's covered in cuts and bruises. That's all the proof you need."

Xisuma waited for Grian to wake up, and when he did Xisuma noticed Grian just very tired.

"You okay?"

"I'll live." Grian mumbled, "Sam's mean..."

"You won't have to worry about him anymore. I promise. And... Grian... I'm sorry I didn't notice it sooner. You wouldn't be in this situation if I had just fired Sam from the get-go."

"I lived, papa. I'm okay. I love you."

"I love you too kid. Get some rest. I'm not leaving your side until your clear for discharge."
