Xisuma and Etho were both observing some eggs that were found off a reserve.
"Hey, X?" Etho asked cautiously, Xisuma hummed as he was writing something down, "Are these eggs supposed to hatch?"
"Uh.... No? They're dead eggs. They've shown no sign of life ever since we got them." Xisuma said walking over then saw one if the eggs that was separates from all the others shaking, "Holy shit!"
The little bird popped out with blue and red sides.
Etho's eyes widened, "IT'S A PHOENIX CHICK!"
"Etho shush, you might scare it."
"It's so tiny though!"
"It's a baby, Etho. It's gonna be tiny."
A few days go by as they observed the chick. The little bird's chirping intrigued Etho, he never really left the little bird alone by himself.
Xisuma and Doc were talking when Etho walked up to them, "X! Dude, look!"
Etho opened his hands to reveal the little Phoenix chick chirping in his palm.
"Etho! What're you doing?" Xisuma asked, "You can't pick it up yet! It's too early!"
"No, it's fine!" Etho protested, "Look, he's perfectly fine! His feather's came in nicely, he's healthy, and I think he'll start outgrowing his incubator soon."
"Wait one second... Phoenix birds outgrow things?! How fast?!"
"Pretty fast. It's actually quite normal." Etho started petting the chicks head with his finger, "Isn't he cute?"
"Yes, but go put him back in the thing. Let him rest."
Etho sighed, "Fine."
That night, the little bird wouldn't stop chittering, it wouldn't calm down until Etho walked into the room with Xisuma.
"I think it likes you E." Xisuma chuckled, "Maybe we should move it to your room."
"Maybe."
Over the next few weeks, the little bird didn't need an incubator or a different room. He ended up sleeping at the foot of Etho's bed. He followed Etho everywhere. Etho ended up naming him Grian.
Etho woke up one morning to something thudding against the floor. He sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. Then he noticed his little Phoenix friend wasn't on the foot of his bed, "Grian?"
He crawled over to the edge of the bed and saw a little boy, just about his age, on the floor, rubbing his head.
"No way!" Etho shouted, scaring the young boy, "You have a human form! Xisuma!"
Xisuma ran into Etho's room almost panicked, then his jaw dropped, "Is that-?"
"Yeah!" Etho helped Grian back up and to sit on the bed, "Isn't it cool? He has a human form!"
"Well... Get the kid some clothes, breakfast is almost ready."
