3rd Person POV

The date was the 30th of October 2016. Also known as the 48 hour countdown before people would finally take down their damn Halloween decorations.

As much as (Y/N) was mildly interested by the event, he hadn't exactly gotten to be a part of it yet, being a fugitive and all. After breaking out the team from the Raft, Ross had been pissed at him. That was ignoring the fact he slid through the man's fingers while Natasha and Yelena had fled five months ago.

But with all that on his shoulders, (Y/N) had still decided he was going to say 'screw it' and return to Los Angeles to check in on Hunter and Raven for the festivity before returning further north.

At the moment he was sat at the end of Santa Monica Pier, counting the minutes before he would take his leave and go over to his hometown.

"It seems a little depressing to come out here and sit alone." (Y/N) almost jumped as Steve's voice came from over his shoulder. He glanced back, narrowing his eyes at the blonde as he sat down beside him.

"It's a little depressing to be a fugitive." He responded, returning to watching the ocean and the few clouds in the sunny sky.

"You live around here, don't you?" Steve asked. (Y/N) raised an eyebrow, curious how he knew that.

"How'd you guess?" He looked at Steve again. Rogers paused for a few seconds, looking at the water ahead.

"Natasha." Steve stated. How did Natasha even know that? "Apparently she asked Maria to describe the house to her, and just from that she figured the rest out."

"If it was anyone but Natasha I'd be afraid of being stalked." (Y/N) huffed. "I wanted to go visit my friend who's looking over the house. Hunter, too."

"Well, I just came to check in on you. Natasha's here, too." Steve looked over his shoulder, leading (Y/N) to do the same and follow his eye sight. He motioned to the now blonde woman stood talking to someone on the phone.

"Nice to know she cares." (Y/N) joked. When Nat noticed the two looking at her, she seemingly rushed the call, saying a goodbye and ending it before putting her phone away and walking over.

"Before I say anything, I apologise." Natasha looked at (Y/N), exhaling as the man just squinted at her.

"Apologise over what?" He asked.

"You'll find out." She shook her head. "Anyway, how are you?"

"Do you want my honest answer?" (Y/N) tilted his head.

"I think I already know the honest answer. I was hoping you'd lie so I could call you out on it." Natasha admitted.

"How's Wanda? I haven't seen her in a while." (Y/N) recalled only seeing Wanda about a month ago. Everyone checked in with each other every now and again, but he hadn't physically seen her in a long time.

Natasha paused, scratching her head as if figuring out how to explain to him that she hadn't updated them yet. It wasn't anything bad. Usually just her forgetting because she kept running off with Vision. But that was not something they at all wanted (Y/N) to know.

"Natasha, speak. You'd get defensive over your adopted sister. Let me get defensive over my sister in arms." (Y/N) narrowed his eyes.

"Trust me. It's better that I didn't tell you." She sighed. "Anyway, we're sticking around here for a while. And I may or may not have said you were going drinking with me and someone else."

"Natasha, what about being fugitives do you not understand? Just because you dyed your hair doesn't make you unrecognisable." (Y/N) looked at her as if she was stupid, but Natasha just smirked.
