Chapter 93: Worthy

"Hey. Hey, Cap." Tony slapped his hands against Steve's chest, causing the man to gasp as his eyes shot open. "That's my man." Tony crouched down, offering the man his shield back. "You lose this again, I'm keeping it."

Steve ignored that in favour of looking around at the ruins of the compound in confusion. "What happened?"

"You mess with time, it tends to mess back." Tony noted. He offered his hand out, which Steve took immediately and was pulled to his feet. The two stepped out of the metal debris, seeing the outside of what was once a beautiful home to them.

Thor stood outside, staring out as he calculated the situation. When Steve and Tony met with him, they saw what he was looking at.

Thanos...

He sat upon a piece of stone, a double edged sword stabbed into the ground beside him.

"What's he been doing?" Tony questioned.

"Absolutely nothing." Thor answered.

"Where are the stones?" Steve asked, knowing those were the important thing.

"Somewhere under all this." Tony motioned to the destruction that laid around them. "All I know is he doesn't have 'em."

"So, we keep it that way." Steve said, staring out at the villain.

"You know it's a trap, right?" Thor hummed.

"Yeah. I don't much care." Tony shrugged.

"Good. Just as long as we're all in agreement." Thor exhaled. The skies above them crackled to life with the sharp sound of thunder. Thor raised up both hands, eyes glowing with lightning as more shot down onto him.

His Asgardian armour formed around him, and Stormbreaker flew to his right hand. His left flew Mjolnir...

"Let's kill him properly this time."

The three men all took turns in their attacks. Their weapons swinging individually before morphing into a collaborative combo against their assailant. Their entire time heist, their mission to save everyone... It was faulted by a nemesis they had thought gone.

Thanos spun his sword around, swiping away Rogers with a stern face. The younger version that had bitten back when they tried to command time. The man gritted his teeth, his warrior's helmet held tight around his head as he turned his attention to the other two.

Tony extended out a large conductor from the back of his suit. "Okay, Thor. Hit me." He called out. Behind him, Thor summoned lightning from the sky, channeling it through his weapons and firing it into the conductor.

Tony's suit charged up, suddenly 8 different beams blazed out. Two from his palms, six from the back of the suit. The attacks charged towards the Mad Titan, only for him to block the attack with a spin of his weapon.

Seeing how it was being blocked, Thor launched Mjolnir, a weapon he had reclaimed from the 2014 timeline, smacking it with Stormbreaker and sending it straight for him.

Thanos saw the attack coming, bashing Tony back before grabbing him and using him as a body shield to take the hit. Mjolnir smashed against Tony's chest, sending him flying back through the stone and metal debris. His head fell back as his consciousness dimmed.

Steve returned into the fray, throwing his shield at the man and having it ricochet back to him. He charged forward, kicking Thanos in the jaw and flipping back before being swatted away.

Thor ran forward, sliding under the thrown double blade of his opponent and swinging downwards.

Thanos' sword flew right back around to his hand. He blocked the oncoming attack, parrying Stormbreaker away and kicking Thor down. As the axe fell from the god of thunder's hand, he was left exposed.
