Chapter 108: Fake Hero

"Okay, okay. Listen, pack an overnight bag and take the boys." Sam said over his phone call. The trio walked through the streets and the other two were basically forced to eavesdrop on the conversation. Hearing the panic in Sam's voice was odd.

"What happened?" (Y/N) asked, looking at him worriedly.

"Karli called Sarah. She threatened my nephews." Sam moved his phone away as he spoke to him. He then rose it back to his ear.

"Bitch..." (Y/N) whispered. Threatening someone was one thing. But threatening their family was a big grey area that shouldn't be visited.

"Okay. Go somewhere safe. Only pay cash. All right? Let me know when you get there. I know. Look, I love you. I'll never let anything happen to you and the boys." Sam said his goodbyes.

"Bye, Sarah." (Y/N) said loudly, earning an eye roll and an elbow from Sam. He shook his head.

"N-No. I'm not telling him you said- Look. Be safe. Bye." Sam ended the call, sliding his phone into his pocket. He turned to (Y/N) with a scowl. "Don't do that."

"Don't do what?" (Y/N) played dumb.

"You know what." Sam told him.

"I was being friendly." He huffed.

"Okay, enough. What did she want?" Bucky stopped the two both physically and verbally. Sam kept both his hands in his pockets and sighed.

"Karli wants to meet. She left a contact number." Sam said. Again, his phone chimed and he retrieved it and checked the message. A location... "She said to go alone."

"Great. Where are we going?" (Y/N) asked, disregarding the statement all together. Sam looked at him for a second, then Bucky. The two just nodded to show they were coming either way.

"Karli!" Sam shouted out. Now kitted with his Falcon gear, sam and the others stomped into the location they had been given by the girl. They were at north plaza, standing in the courtyard as Karli looked down from the next floor.

The three walked to the nearby stairs and ascended up, finding themselves just across from Karli.

"You called my sister? That's how we're gonna play this?" Sam questioned, stepping closer to her while the other two hung back.

"I would never hurt her. I wanted to understand you better." Karli said in defence. She stopped leaning on the railing to instead take a couple steps nearer to Sam. "You didn't come alone." She glanced at Bucky and (Y/N). The latter waved at her comedically.

"You have to end this now." Sam told her.

"I don't wanna hurt you." Karli said honestly. "You're a tool in the regimes I want to destroy. You're not hiding behind a shield. If I were to kill you, it'd be meaningless."

Sam's eyes twitched as he caught on to what she was talking about. He looked back at the other two to see if they had the same expression.

"Oh, please tell me what I'm thinking is true." (Y/N) whispered pleadingly. Walker getting dropped? That sounded like a show he wanted to attend.

"I was gonna ask you to join me. Or do the world a favour and let me go." Karli paused.

Suddenly their comms lit up with Sharon's voice. "Hey, guys. New Cap is moving, looks like he's found them, or maybe they found him."

Sam looked down at his wrist as Sharon sent the coordinates. He looked back at the two. "It's Walker."

Bucky was the first to jump from the balcony, only to be tackled as Karli dove into him. Sam and (Y/N) followed down, Sam knocking the girl back and allowing (Y/N) to blast her back with a wave of energy.
