You sighed as you watched the clock. It was past midnight and Jackson was still not home yet. He was out to entertain his producer and some of the songwriters and other people from the Wang Records to celebrate the successful of his album. He asked you to come along but you refused. He was pissed when you refused to accompanying him for the third time now. He said you've changed, but deep down, you felt that both of you have changed. He wasn't the same Jackson Wang that you met years ago. Your memory went back to the beginning. You first met him when his dating ban was just lifted. You met him accidentally and then he asked for your number. You were surprised when he asked you out on a date the first time and you remembered the experience was not... as exquisite as you've hoped for. You had to date in secret of course. You couldn't risk being spotted by fans nor the press. Since it was a first date, he couldn't ask you to go to his house, so you ended up eating and talking in his car. He surprised you again when he asked you out for the second time. You didn't feel like you impressed him enough for him to ask you out again, but apparently, you did and you agreed. Months later and couple more dates, he asked you to be his girlfriend. He warned you of the risk though as he was just started his company in China and it would make him busier than before, and you agreed, knowing well that him being busy meant that you both wouldn't have much time to spend together. But it was okay, since Jackson always made sure that you enjoyed the time you were together to the fullest.
You were happy. Even though you missed him a lot when he was in China for his solo promotion, or when he went on tour, but you could still see him on screen. His members helped him to sneak out when he was in Korea and they were happy for you two, so you felt enough. You remembered when he first told you about the fans swarming the airport, indicating that his group was finally recognized worldwide, that he was halfway toward his dream. You were happy for him and he thanked you numerously for being patient with him. He promised you that he would work hard to make enough for both of you so you wouldn't have to work anymore. You just smiled and told him to just focus on his career and not kept worying about you. You couldn't believe how Jackson managed to hide you all these years. Even when you tagged along during on of their tour, no one spotted you. Or maybe his team worked fast, dealing with floating rumours and stuff. When he got out of his former company, he was thinking of going public, but you told him not to. This was a new beginning for him and he shouldn't surprise his fans with a relationship revelation and he agreed. He asked you to consider moving with him back to China. After all, you've been with him long enough. His parents knew you already. It was a big decision for you. Moving to China, a place that you had no family nor friends there. And the language. Though Jackson has been teaching you the language, it was still confusing when people talked in Mandarin with the usual speed. He begged and begged until you agreed to move to China with him.
You got a glass of water and emptied the content before sitting back on the couch. Going back to China. You thought it was the start of something new for both of you. But who knew that he started to change? Or perhaps you just started to see him better as you two both started to live together? At first he looked just fine. His schedule was still busy as ever in China, even though the covid made the whole world upside down, but somehow it didn't seem to affect China. Aside from Wuhan at the first place, the rest of China kept moving on as usual, so Jackson kept being cast in various variety show and he had to film out of two, leaving you alone in the house. He introduced you to Henry and his wife, and his wife was lovely, but after they had a baby, it was impossible for her to accompany you, and you understood fully. You were lonely as you didn't work anymore. Jackson made sure that you didn't need to work and even if you tried to find a work, you still weren't fluent enough in Mandarin to score any job. Then you agreed to accompany him to company dinners and parties. He started to introduce you to everyone and you started to feel a little bit better. Even though he didn't announce your relationship publicly, most of the people knew about you at last. Seeing that you seemed happy at the dinners and parties, Jackson kept asking you to accompany him. You were not a heavy drinker but since it was party and stuff, you had to drink as you didn't want to embarrass Jackson. And that was when it was started. Jackson held parties more often and he got drunk often. After awhile, you started to feel bored with the party. You felt you just repeated the whole useless cycle. You were lonely when he worked out of town or when he had to record music and went on tour with his Panthepack crew but then you were wasted all the time after the party. You barely remembered the last time you went out with him, just the two of you, without both of you getting drunk. You pointed it to him one day and he started to get angry at you. Saying that you were ungrateful. He did everything to make you live comfortably but you didn't appreciate it. Then he got even angrier when you first refused to accompany him. He got home that night, drunk and angry. He called you names for the first time and it hurt you a lot. He asked for forgiveness the next morning when he remembered it but it happened again when you refused to go again.
