Bakugo stood leaning on his hip pressed against the counter top with crossed arms. He split his focus between diligently working scared hands and a peak of soft pink tongue poking out the side of a small mouth. The now quite serious expression on his partner's freckled face was intense. The greenett's laser focus on his assigned task brought up thoughts the blonde often ignored.
Bakugo had always been impressed by Izuku's determination even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Or in this case a domestic challenge. Not that he would ever admit that out loud. In fact, that may have actually been the core reason why he began to bully the kid when they were brats.
If Katsuki was honest with himself, and he was because why the fuck would he not be, he had been jealous back then. If the spiky haired youth had been the one diagnosed as quirkless when they were only four years old things would have been very different. He knows for a FACT that he would not have had the fortitude to continue on the path to becoming a hero the way the other so easily seemed to do.
At least it might have been easy if not for the borderline torture the young emerald-eyed boy was unfairly subjected to.
In middle school, the fiery preteen thought he was giving the smaller boy a reality check. He just did it in his own dysfunctional kind of way. How else was a little emotionally (constipated) inexperienced brat supposed to cope?
When he got to UA and found the curly haired menace had applied to the Hero program against Bakugo's warning. Not only that but his former best friend had been accepted AND been good enough to get into 1A. The short tempered male's first reaction after realizing he was stuck with his past behavior now was to try and convince not only Deku but also himself that he spent the last few years trying to help him avoid lifelong disappointment. But now? Now he knew it for what it truly was. Pure jealousy.
Jealousy of the boy's tenacity, of his determination, of his ability to persevere. Mostly Katuki was jealous of Izuku's ability to smile no matter what and always think of others in every situation. Maybe the blonde's own view of Hero's only needing to be strong to be great wasn't the most accurate view.
This little CTJ moment with himself following everything with his kidnapping and All Might was why he was able to make up with his now partner. He, Katsuki Bakugo, had APOLOGIZED and MEANT it. According to a certain redhead it was very manly. After a few hours of consideration on that momentous day his admission was accepted by its intended recipient and the pair took up their idol's suggestion about working together. That was the day Dynamight agreed to fully and freely train as Deku's future partner and help them become number 1 together. He was- Damn it he's fucking burning it now too!
The arguably overly-forgiving green haired teen had flipped half the egg roll out of the pan and onto the stove top heating element while his supervisor was distracted with his thoughts on their reconciliation. "Oi! Give it here before you choke us both with smoke!" Grabbing the pan from the larger hand of the smaller boy, Blasty tossed it unceremoniously into the sink. He then scraped what he could from the now blackened heat element.
"Sorry K-Kacchan! I thought I really had it too." Swatting away the nearly black cloud coming from the charred egg remains, the curly-haired male turned on the exhaust fan. The greenette then stumbled to keep out of the way of his seemingly, and justifiably, angry teacher.
"Get the plates. I'll just skip the omelet."
"But we can clean up the pan and you can make your own! I won't try to help this time so it should be fine, right?"
"Do you have any idea how hard it's gonna be to try and clean that shit off the pan without totally ruining the thing? I'll just ask Ponytail to make another one later. She made that one so it should be easy for her." As the pair placed the not-burnt mackerel on their plates the self named Deku-Squad began to trickle out of the elevator and down the stairs.
