It was possible that Katsuki had never run so fast in all his 17 years. He could feel more notifications alerting on his phone but couldn't care. All he could think of was getting to his missing partner as quickly as possible. Rounding the corner he spotted the fence around the small play area and locked on to the slight movement of one of the swings. As soon as he was close enough to see who was there his steps slowed to a walk.
It wasn't Deku. It was a young boy with orange hair. Not wanting to scare the brat and knowing how that was not his particular strong suit he kept walking past the swings to begin searching around. Once he reached the slide he checked inside the long tube and sighed as he found nothing there.
Groaning in frustration, he reached into his pocket and read the last several messages from his best friend. After glaring at the tiny screen he turned back the way he came and froze. There, in the small boy's hands was a somewhat ratty looking green stuffed bunny.
He knew that rabbit.
All thoughts of not frightening the younger male gone, he ran over and grabbed the kid by the shoulders. "Where did you get that?" The shocked boy's eyes went wide as he sat staring up at the intimidating teen in front of him. When he was unable to answer, the blonde tried again. "Kid, this is important. You aren't in trouble but I need to know where you got that rabbit. NOW."
Nodding and lifting a small hand the still frightened child pointed at the south exit of the park. "That other guy gave it to me. He said it was supposed to be for someone important but I could play with it while I'm here till my dad gets back."
"Where's your dad?"
"He went home to get my hat. That's our house there." Pointing again the boy indicated a light brown home only one house away and across the street. Seeing a tall man coming back out the door with a small hat in his hand the Hero in training called out to him.
"Hey, this yours?" Indicating the now smiling boy clutching one Mr. Usagi tightly in his chubby fingers the ruby-eyed youth received a nod from the now jogging man. Once the kid's father reached the gate Bakugo said thanks to the boy and ran towards the other side of the park. Please don't be far. He can't have gone far yet. He's gotta still be around here. Look! Find him! At the end of the street a dark blur caught Katsuki's eye as it entered the wooded area next to the sidewalk. With no other leads to follow, Bakugo jogged over to see if it could possibly have been his missing partner.
As soon as he set foot into the trees his breath hitched as a head of green hair came into view. He would be able to recognize those curls in the largest of crowds. It was Deku. He found him.
The missing Hero student addressed his (ex)-boyfriend without turning around to face him. Izuku didn't need to look to know who found him. "I should have guessed he would have called you right away. I suppose I was hoping you would be at the Tower or school and too far away to find me before I left the area. That's what I get for being sloppy."
"Bunny-"
"Don't. Please don't. Don't call me that. I don't deserve it."
"Ok, Deku then."
"No. That was going to be the name of a Hero. Something I will never be now."
"What the fuck does that mean? You told Shitty Hair something like that too." Braving a small step forward, Katsuki barely held back the tears that threatened to fall as he looked at the back of the other's still turned away head.
"Kiri was kind enough to let me know what caused all this trouble. I'm glad you caught the Villain. Thank you for breaking her quirk's effects. But it's too late. I finally found a way to make the voices and the nightmares stop but it's very unheroic."
