It had been over 10 days since Deku broke up with his boyfriend and disappeared home from UA. With the approval from the school principal the once upbeat boy took his midterm exams almost a week early in secret from his classmates. Only Nezu and the teachers knew the greenette had completed them by the time he confronted Bakugo in the woods where they often trained together.
Once exams finished for the rest of the Hero course students they were given leave to return home for a two-week break before resuming their internships and classes. It was only February but since those enrolled in the Hero classes of UA used half of their summer break for training every year they were able to take a small break in winter to make up for it.
Heights Alliance had been empty for two days and most students were back home or with friends. None had heard from the freckled teen that left eight days earlier. Almost everyone in the school knew Midoriya and those who called themselves his friends were all aware of his, as the principle called it, current medical condition. Between exams and review sessions every member of 2A and several from 2B tried calling and texting the greenette with no results. His social media hadn't been updated in over two months, so there was no help there. A few people that were not yet aware of the break-up even asked Bakugo about his missing other half only to get cursed out more than usual.
The volatile blonde spent the last two days since coming home holed up in his room staring out the window down the street at Midoriya's house. He just couldn't let it end like that. There was no fucking way the blonde was going to let some shitty quirk take away Izuku's dream. Katsuki just needed to find out what the quirk was so he could reverse it and get his damn Bunny back.
Dynamight, All Might, and Flurry had narrowed down the timeline of the attack to the day the Nerd went back to the elementary school. The timing matched the onset of the nightmares and they agreed it had to have something to do with the mysterious woman he'd run into that day. In light of everything that had been going on, the freckled teen's description of the encounter and the woman herself now seemed suspect. At first Bakugo had been jealous of the greenette's description of only the woman's attractiveness, but how could a keen eyed hero hopeful not notice anything or merit about her? Not her eye color, hair color, not even how tall she was. It didn't add up, like something was keeping him from recalling any identifying features. The problem was that they had no way of finding the mystery could-be Villain since Deku couldn't clearly remember anything about her. With no description to go off of and no security cameras in the nearby shops they had nowhere to start.
All Might was also an issue these days. After internships were suspended Bakugo had started reporting to Might Tower every day to work with Discount Elsa and his idol after exams and classes. The second day of exams he confided in the man what his protégé confessed in the woods.
Toshinori could understand why the boy would be planning to pass on his quirk to his original candidate. If Izuku didn't know what was happening to him was not his fault, of course the noble youth would want what was best for the greater good regardless of any consequences for himself. THAT is who Midoriya is.
Even so, the man was near irate. He had chosen Izuku for a reason and that reason had never changed nor did it waver. The vestiges of One for All would never have appeared to the teen if he were not meant to have it. How could Midoriya have such little faith in the retired number one's judgment?
Of course he wanted to share their ongoing theory about an unknown quirk attack being the cause of the boy's troubles. Obviously he wanted to reassure the youth that what he was experiencing was temporary and they would be able to have him back to his bouncy optimistic self soon. So why didn't he? Why didn't Katsuki just tell his partner they think they found the cause of the problem? Simple.
