The speed with which motivated people can complete a complicated and labor-intensive task is often an impressive sight to see. For example: converting a large ballroom from a space where hundreds of families, students, and Pro Heros gathered for a lengthy but well-earned graduation ceremony into a space for an epic celebratory party. One that could happily accommodate and entertain the young adults that were the focus of the evening as well as their fellow students that were saying goodbye to seeing them everyday.
Last week was the final installment of physical exams and guided training for all the third year Hero course students at UA and unsurprisingly everyone was graduating with full marks. However, a handful of the soon-to-be Pros would be taking supplementary lessons for another month and retesting in various academic subjects in order for them to obtain a full high school transcript. They were permitted to test for their permanent Hero licenses, but their professional ID numbers could not be issued without an official certificate of completion from the school. Since the money to fund Heros comes from the government, no ID number means those unfortunate few would have no paycheck for at least a month. Was it a form of punishment for not taking their academics more seriously? OR was it some kind of karma? Who knows.
Kaminari and Mina were the only two from class A that would be in the supplementary classes but they were not alone. A matter of only six points separated Kirishima from needing them as well. Sero and Hagakure were also rather close to the edge and counting their lucky stars.
Everyone was told ahead of time what would happen should they pass class exams and not the Hero tests as well as what the procedure would be for the opposite. The morning their exam scores were posted Shota called the electric and acid quirk users to the teacher's lounge. And while the somewhat tsundre man did not specifically reveal to anyone why he needed to speak to the pair the implication was clear from his chosen timing.
When the two returned to the commons an hour later they found only a handful of their classmates plus Hitoshi and Tetsutetsu lingering. Heads bowed in shame they did their best to sneak past their friends and up the stairs but the keen red eyes of a deceptively concerned and caring blonde found them easily. Katsuki's aggressive approach was somewhat softened by the greenette pulling on his arm repeating 'they feel bad enough about it they don't need you to yell at them'. Did it stop their squad leader from speaking his mind? No. Of course it didn't. But the two were silently grateful for the effort nonetheless.
Both of the now nearly nineteen-year-old almost-graduates were lectured rather sternly by Bakugo. After the expressive squad leader had thoroughly chewed out his Extras he passed them off to others. Both Shinso and Jiro took over expressing their disappointment to Denki while also reassuring him that of course they would help him prepare for his second chance at graduating. Yaoyorozu embraced her motherly role as well and had a few stern words for her horned female friend. In the end both would still be able to work with their new agencies and hopefully receive back pay once they completed the last class and passed their second round of tests.
Everyone had completed the Pro license exams over the last four days and it was a proud day when all students in both classes passed with ease. Unlike in the provisional license exams, none of the students allowed personal feelings to interfere with their reactions and nobody was diverted or incapacitated by Toga so everyone was on their top game.
Rumor had it that Principal Nezu actually cried after hearing the good news which spurred a whole new secret investigative group of students determined to see if the man actually even had tear ducts. Currently, they had no findings to report: much to many graduates' disappointment. One such student may have also set up a private social media page so that future findings could be relayed to all UA students both past and present. Yay internet!
Tonight would be a grand party for all current students and graduates of UA with minimal teacher supervision. Since not everyone was of age to drink Snipe, Midnight, Ectoplasm and Thirteen would be present to make sure the younger guests were abiding by the rules. The rest of the Hero staff would also be present but for the most part would be spending the evening in a private area off of the main room having their own small and likely far more subdued reception. Everyone who was graduating as well as a few second year students were given wristbands to identify them as legal drinkers making them easier to spot by the roaming Pro's watchful eyes. The bands glowed in the dark and were quirk resistant so they could not be copied. Not that they weren't tested by anyone who had any kind of duplicating quirk.
Never hurts to try.
Most students were excited to dress up and party with their friends as well as have a chance to see those from different departments since it was a rare occasion for different tracks to interact. The general buzz amongst the twenty students in second year of the business department who were currently pushing tables around the large ballroom was positive. The other twenty business track year two students running around the room decorating were equally hyped and between the forty of them they had the whole room converted in only half an hour. This left them two hours before the party was set to start so they were able to get ready in plenty of time.
Most of the graduates had already emptied their dorm rooms and either sent their things home to their parents or off to the apartment they would now be living in as a fully independent semi-adult. Almost all of those in the Hero track would not be returning home as they need to live near their agency, but there were some notable exceptions. The throuple of class 3A was one such exception.
There had been a development in the relationship between Mindjack, Earphone Jack, and Chargebolt only two nights ago that was both completely surprising and not shocking in the least, all at once. Those who had been scheduled for their license tests were returning to the dorms and among them were Kaminari and Jiro. Both were absolutely glowing with pride and excitement as they walked through the doors with the others and immediately began searching for the other purplette. No one had seen Shinso since everyone left that morning but after most of the gathered crowd dispersed he appeared.
In a suit.
Even Kyouka had to admit how good the constantly sleep-deprived man looked and couldn't keep the blush of her cheeks as he hugged her close and kissed her cheek before congratulating her on her license. The fact that Denki leapt into his arms after that and started kissing him as if he would disappear any second came as a shock to no one, least of all his two purple haired partners. Once the blonde calmed a bit, at least enough to dislodge himself from his boyfriend, the tallest member of the group instructed the others to dress nice and return to the commons as quickly as possible. He had plans to take them out to celebrate and neither could even try to lie about not thinking that was sweet.
The trio had gone to a rather nice dinner together and walked around a nearby artificial pond after. Sitting on a bench under the light of a park lamp the two official Heros were caught off guard as their companion kneeled in front of them and presented a small box to each. Toshi was never a guy of many words and his proposal was characteristically brief and blunt but still perfect. He asked the female of the group to be his platonic asexual wife, to which she agreed without hesitation. When he asked the citron-eyed Pikachu they both loved dearly to be both his AND her husband together the electricity quirk user balled his eyes out and tried to kiss them each fiercely.
It seemed the two amethyst haired members of the trouple already agreed to propose to the blonde together, but there had been no mention of Jiro also marrying Hitoshi until that night. What they have together might not be conventional but it works for them and that's all that matters. However, it did beg the question of: what now?
Hitoshi had to stay in the teacher dorms because even though he completed high school academically he needed another year of interning and certified training before he could test for his license. Todoroki had nearly blown a gasket when he learned the purplette would be staying with Mr. Aizawa since they don't have any spare dorms with the new incoming crop of students next week. The bi-colored youth's conspiracy theories of secret love children resurfaced with a vengeance and it took Momo the better part of an afternoon to calm him down.
