"I. Hate. The damn. Portals." Holding his stomach and head Katsuki did his best to not lose his breakfast. Next to him his partner was in similar shape. The two Heros in training had used Aperture 's quirk to get to All Might Tower every Wednesday for almost 3.5 months now but the aftermath of the helpful Pro's unique quirk never got any easier to deal with. After speaking with several classmates and members of class 1B last week, the boys were not alone in their suffering. Either the transport Pro had lied to them all about the after effects of his quirk, or he really just didn't know. Either way the blonde half of the 'Wonder Duo' was going to have a conversation with the man for sure.
"Wow. You two look like crap. As usual. Who's gonna hurl first today? My money's on Green Bean." A tall woman with long blue hair and matching blue eyes smirked down at her pair of groaning interns. Arms crossed and leaning back on the chunky heel of her surprisingly tall boots waiting to see if either of her wards would be booking it for the lavatory this morning.
Usually there would be a single agency representative to train each intern, but since the (dubiously) aptly named 'Wonder Duo' were planning to be professional partners they were an exception to that particular practice. The two teens had only one supervising Pro to work under, and a secondary Pro they checked in with periodically. Most Heros were solo acts like All Might or Endeavor, but that didn't mean they couldn't work collectively when needed either with members of their own agency or with those from others. Though there were several Pros all over the country that always worked in pairs or groups like the Wild Pussy Cats or the Lurkers.
"Shut up Frostbite. Don't you have a snowman to go play with or something?" Straightening up, it was the red-eyed teen that recovered from the portal's effects first. At least mostly. Damn that portal bastard! Don't you dare pop Deku! Don't give this asshole the satisfaction of thinking she's better than us just cause she's a Pro and we aren't yet. Man I hate this chick.
"Hi Flurry. It's nice to see you again." A slightly wobbly smile was all Midoriya could offer his trainer at the moment. It usually took him a good half an hour to recover after using the portals, though it was close to an hour when they first started their internships. So maybe it WAS getting better, if only slightly. They would be getting to and from their agency through the portals during all of their year 2 internship as well so hopefully one day they wouldn't have any residual effects to speak of.
Fingers crossed.
"Hi cutie. Miss me?" Ruffling soft curls the snow quirk user walked past her (minions) interns and started to lead the way towards the usual morning briefing. Flurry was much like Bakugo: short-tempered, foul-mouthed, very attractive, and excellent at manipulating her quirk in ways others would never think useful or possible. They were almost the same. Which explained why they got along so well. You know, like oil and water. Dark Shadow and a supernova. Mineta and anyone of the female persuasion.
Upon entering the large meeting room on the fifteenth floor of the gleaming tower, the two students took up their usual positions standing behind their liaison as she sat amongst her colleagues. Every work shift started with a comprehensive briefing of the activities from the hours prior and a review of the day's duties to come. Who would patrol where and what missions would be taking place if any were explained in detail to ensure every citizen in the city would remain as safe as possible while under the Hero's watch.
Today it seemed Dynamight, Flurry, and Deku would be patrolling near the shipyards on the look out for a gang of smugglers. There was suspicion that the smugglers were trading quirk enhancing devices on the black market but more intel was needed. The trio would be doing rounds and keeping an eye out to see if they could catch any suspicious activity in the area. Basically, the Hero version of a police stake out. A nice, relatively safe and (boring) calm assignment. Perfect for the feisty Dynamight and excitable Flurry. Delightful.
Poor Deku. It was going to be a particularly long day.
"This sucks. They're never going to let us do anything interesting. We keep getting the crap assignments on top of having to be with Discount Elsa here all day. Fuck I hate this. I just want to kick some Villain's ass, is that so much to ask?" Practically stomping down the sidewalk beside his brightly smiling partner, Bakugo vented his frustrations at feeling stagnant in his internship. So far over the last nearly four months they had seen no action whatsoever and it was killing him.
"It's not so bad, Kacchan. When we're Pros, most days will be like this anyway and most assignments will be for patrolling and surveillance so this is a great experience. Besides, it's a good thing that there isn't more villain activity. We shouldn't be WANTING there to be trouble all the time." Trying to cheer his friend up, the greenette hopped pointing out the positives would help but truth be told: he was bored too. The initial thrill of interning at a real agency was long gone and part of him wished he could have just been assigned to Grand Torino again. At least in those brief few days he had gained some skills. So far all they had learned was how to file paperwork and the best place in town for good coffee.
"You know you two could always specialize. Most Heros just work an area and do whatever is needed in their tertiary but you could choose to be more freelance if you want more action. Then you're basically sub-contractors and work anywhere you're needed. Mostly high risk missions and reconnaissance assignments. The only reason not many go that route is because the pay is so unsteady. Usually those who go that route don't have a home agency so keeping track of their work is challenging for the pencil pushers." Without turning to face the pair behind her the tall bluette spoke in her usual light taunting tone as they grew ever closer to the waterfront. She was in a slightly playful mood so the more gravely and menacing way of speaking she reserved mostly for Katsuki was missing.
"Don't you have to get a special recommendation from the International Hero Alliance for that shit?" Bakugo's default stance of always having a hand in his pocket took on a slightly different tone when he was in his Hero costume. Especially with his gauntlets on. But here he was, fist clenched and buried deep in black fabric, doing his best to NOT seem interested in the idea his (keeper supervisor) trainer brought up. Feigning an air of aloof disinterest was his signature move after all. No way would he give Less Ugly Olaf here the satisfaction of knowing he wanted her input.
"So the Angry Pomeranian DOES pay attention! I'm impressed little boy."
"THE FUCK DID YOU JUST CALL ME??" A smack to the back of the now enraged blonde's head derailed his furry from his mentor to the small successor of One For All keeping pace at his side.
"The hell was that for Deku!?"
"You seem to have forgotten we're working right now. Be more professional Dynamight. And be more respectful to Flurry, she's our mentor AND our boss. You need to remember that." The jade-eyed male's goal was to refocus his boyfriend away from getting himself in trouble, so in that respect he felt a sense of accomplishment. That was until the equally cheeky female leading them spoke up again. Why do these two love to get on each others nerves so much?
"You know, It's a good thing you two are training to be partners. You'll be a great handler Deku. Just make sure you keep his shots up to date and don't let him off leash at the park. He'll scare the others." Sarcastic as she may have been, the amused woman was actually impressed. It was always a little jarring to see how quickly the volatile blonde could be utterly disarmed by a boy that for all intents and purposes was a pure cinnamon roll.
"SAY THAT TO MY FA-" A hand over his mouth muffled the rest of the ruby-eyed teen's outburst. A look to his partner confirmed the curly haired youth was very much over the other's behavior for the day already.
"She's only saying things to rile you up, and you are letting her. And please stop teasing him Flurry, you'll make it hard for him to focus when we get there and we need all of us to keep our eyes open. Right?" Turning to finally face her interns, the statuesque woman with sapphire eyes smirked and let out a small laugh. CRAP CRAP CRAP!! I forgot I told Flurry about the class' secret nickname for Kacchan! Please don't tell him please don't tell him please don't tell him...
"OK, but only for YOU Green Bean." A wink in his direction reassured the freckled boy that his boss DID understand what would happen to him if his more explosive counterpart found out the colorful name was not of her own design but rather came from him.
Ten points to Flurry.
