"No way bro! Blasty is good, no doubts there but my partner is too manly to lose. He's totally gonna win this."
"Twenty and breakfast in bed all weekend says he loses. Bad."
"...Breakfast in bed? Is that supposed to be a treat or a threat?"
Rolling his eyes, Izuku crossed his arms and huffed at the not so veiled insult. "Kacchan would cook. Not me."
"Well in THAT case, you're on Midobro!" A bright toothy grin spread across Kirishima's face as the two shook hands and turned their attention back to the mini brawl happening in front of them.
It was a cross class training day and Tetsutetsu was squaring off against Bakugo. This was a purely physical combat session and students were not to use their quirks, only their own strength as well as evasion and capture skills. The goal was simple: get the faux cuffs on their opponent or knock them out. Everyone was paired up against someone with a similar physical build to make it as fair as possible and the two class hot heads were a perfect match. Usually Eijiro would have been paired against his silver haired partner but since they always trained together the teachers wanted to change it up. In a real Villain encounter you wouldn't always know your opponent's fight style or abilities, so this would be more advantageous to their training. A better simulation if you will. It made sense.
The trip to the hot springs for class 2A was almost six weeks ago and June had just begun though the temperature today would say otherwise. The good dynamic between Deku and Kirishima had gradually increased along with the heat and these days the two were completely returned to their former friendly ways. Much to the delight of everyone but most of all one chronically exhausted instructor. The only thing different now was that the redhead invited his future partner or another member of the Baku-squad when he wanted to go to town or shopping rather than his still favorite blonde.
Mina was always happy to be a shopping buddy and despite her own situation with the hardening quirk user she never turned down an opportunity to spend time with him. She even became a wing man of sorts when the two went out together. Turns out the pinkette rather enjoyed helping her healing love interest scope out cute guys at the mall. Denki and Sero had made it a personal mission to go to any and all movie marathons at the cinema by the mall and Kiri was almost always merrily dragged along with them. Those days it was his turn to help Hanta hit on girls since Denki's pick up lines were tragic at best. The one time womanizer was of no help at all.
As for the Deku-squad, Uraraka was true to her word that she was happy to remain good friends with everyone's favorite freckled greenette. In fact, of late, the brunette was a driving force in improving the casual wardrobe of All Might's successor.
Seriously, the boy had a 'shirt' for every occasion and theme. They were horrible!
The scrimmage between the two feisty future Heros lasted only ten minutes, but a clear winner could not be determined. Katsuki had far better maneuverability, but Tetsu was superior in raw strength. Attacks were countered or overpowered and defenses were circumvented or broken. The two really were quite evenly matched.
As the disgruntled pair made their way back to their classmates after the sound of time ending they continued to throw insults back and forth. Despite that, both were sporting huge grins the whole way. It seems they rather enjoyed bot their fight and their exchanged insults.
"So tie. Guess nobody is getting breakfast in bed now. Thanks for that Kacchan." The sarcasm in Izuku's voice was not missed by the ruby-eyed teen he was almost glaring at but the comment itself was beyond confusing to Dynamight. As was the snickering laughter now coming from his redheaded squad member.
"The fuck are you on about Nerd? And what the fuck are you smirking at Hair for Brains?" Crossing his arms and ignoring the torn sleeve on his gym uniform, Bakugo glared at the two reconciled friends.
"As much as I loath having anything in common with Blasty here, I gotta admit I'm lost too. What are you guys talking about Ei?" Throwing an arm over his equally sharp toothed partner's shoulder the obsidian-eyed youth waited for an explanation.
"We may have made a bet on you guys' match..." The shy smile that slowly crept over both Deku and Red Riot's faces, along with the matching gestures of nervously rubbed necks, would have been cute to anyone else in the gym. But not the two now shocked counterparts who stood mouths agape unsure if their ears were playing tricks on them.
"You bet AGAINST me you asshole?!?! I thought you liked to call yourself my best damn friend, you traitor!" Before he could jump on the now preemptively hardened Shark Boy, a white capture cloth wrapped itself around Katsuki's mouth and arms. The unexpected move both silencing him and pinning him in place rendering him unable to reach his goal of punching a now blushing Eijiro. Four sets of eyes snapped to the very aggravated looking teacher who's raven hair was flying above his head. The lone member of class 2B may not be one of Mr. Aizawa's students, but he knew from both observation and stories exactly how ruthless the Pro could be with his appropriately named problem children.
The three not bound teens immediately stood at attention and apologized for being a distraction to the others around them. A soft grunt confirmed their offense and acknowledged their discontinued activities before releasing Bakugo. A quick glance at his own homeroom Pro confirmed for the silver haired youth that Vlad King was also not pleased with the group. However, Tetsutetsu was not one to pass up a good opportunity to get under the explosive male's skin when he could. Some risks would always be worth taking.
Once the supervising teachers had both resumed their focus on the current match he addressed his rival with a teasing note in his voice. "How do you know it was Ei that was betting against you? Maybe your own partner was the one betting on me. Ever think of that you self-absorbed ass?"
While the students of UA's 'Start Class' all knew of the true personal relationship between the 'Wonder Duo', none of the teachers nor other students in the school had been told. In fact, as far as anyone could tell the 20 members of class 2A were the ONLY people who knew the two were dating.
"No way would the Nerd ever bet against ME." Dynamight wanted to throw his arm over his boyfriend's shoulder and hold him close to emphasize his point but knew it was not the greatest of ideas. Reluctantly, he resisted the urge to pull the curly haired boy into his embrace and mark his neck anew choosing instead to resume his crossed arms position from earlier. "But since you think it could have been Deku bettin' on you, then that means you think YOUR partner would have bet on ME. Sucks to be you, Metal Mouth. You should get a better partner, Shitty Hair. Seems the one you got doesn't believe too much in you. Not very manly if you ask me." The smirk and scoff that accompanied his words were met with an almost blank expression.
A confused look overtook the metal quirk user's expression as he stared at the blonde. He should be used to the other's endless ego at this point. I mean, he's known the feisty teen for over a year now. And yet, somehow it still managed to surprise him every time. "You REALLY think highly of yourself, don't you Boom Boom?"
"Why the hell shouldn't I ya damn toaster?" As the two temperamental future Pros began to lose their playfulness and glare at one another their partners couldn't hold back their laughter any longer. Melodic giggles sounded from the smaller of the two as a light chuckle emanated from the other. When the arguing pair heard them and slowly turned their full focus to the set of smiling friends, green and red eyes closed as full on laughter took over. Any hint of genuine irritation instantly melted away at the very welcome sight.
The rest of the training session was spent observing various classmates while a small freckled boy added various notes to his ever present notebook. Mumbled threats were exchanged between the two feistiest members of both classes as they watched from the outermost position at the back of the collective group. Most everyone else stood with their closest friends eager to learn from whomever was currently sparing.
Once all the pairs had finished their turns the teachers gave their various evaluations. Everyone was assigned some aspect of their physical combat to focus on over the next month before they would be retested against a different opponent. Once the last evaluation was passed out, males and females began to separate and head to the locker rooms rather reluctantly to clean up and change. They still had four hours of classes before the end of the day so it would be quite some time before they were able to rest.
Hooray.
