"Don't worry, I rented out the places just for us, you think I'd want your mom to catch us?" He laughs
"Thanks uncle aus, I really needed to get out of the house"
"You're welcome, maybe after we can go for ice cream, as long as we don't take too long, we don't want your mom to be calling every five minutes"
"I'd love to but I can't exactly eat ice cream" I say pointing at my jaw
"Right, sorry maybe some coffee, I keep forgetting you have that stupid thing, what exactly did they even do? Your mom didn't quite say, I thought your jaw was healed from when you had to have braces last year"
"Well it didn't heal correctly, so they had to open me up and put a plaque, so it'll heal right"
"So you're going to beep at metal detectors now?" He chuckles
"I'm not sure actually" I laugh, I guess we'll find out soon
Uncle aus and I only spend about an hour at the arcade before we leave because it'll get a little late and we stop by a coffee shop, uncle aus orders a latte and I order my very specific iced matcha latte with oatmilk, vanilla cold foam and brown sugar
"You should really stop hanging out with your aunt" he chuckles
"It's good! Try it"
"Matcha tastes like grass"
"No it doesn't! Try it!" I say handing him my drink
"Actually that's not bad"
"You knowwwwww, aunt clau just broke up with her boyfriend"
"How many years of your life are you going to dedicate to trying to set us up?" He laughs
"For the rest of my life, you two are perfect for each other!"
"Yeah not happening Kas"
"Why not?"
"What if I we don't workout and then we can't be in the same room for your birthday, or Christmas, or your graduation?"
"My mom and dad have managed" I shrug
"Yeah cause they're your parents, they have a child"
"Well then you two have a kid and problem solved"
"Yeah I'm not having kids just for you to, get me to be in the same room as my hypothetical ex"
"Well then you guys can put your differences aside and be in the same room for me"
"Kas I'm not dating your aunt"
"But you two are perfect for each other! Take her on a date, I promise you won't regret it!"
"We're home, come on" he says changing the topic
"Thanks for bailing me out for a few hours"
"You're welcome, you know you can count on me any time your mom's being a bitch!"
"I think as my uncle you shouldn't be calling mom that" I laugh
"I'm not a regular uncle, I'm a cool uncle" he says quoting my favorite movie
"Remember how mad mom was when she asked you to babysit and you let me watch that movie for the first time?"
"She was pissed! But it's okay, at least now every time you watch it she remembers me, come on, we took longer than what we told your mom, we don't want to piss her off and have her ground you even more"
"Ughhh back to jail" I groan
"How'd it go?" Mom asks when she sees us, her and Travis are cleaning up the kitchen a little
"Boring" I groan "where's grandma and grandpa?"
"They had to leave early sweetie"
"Are they coming back tonight?"
"No, hun, but they'll be back for breakfast tomorrow"
"Are you staying?" I ask aus
"No, I have to go do something, but I'll be back later" he says hugging me " bye tay, bye trav"
"Bye Austin, I'll see you tonight"
"Aus?" I ask as he starts leaving
"What's wrong?"
"Please call yaya"
"I will not be doing that" he says laughing as he turns away
"You're still on that?" Mom laughs
"Why am I the only one that sees that they're literally perfect for each other?"
"Hun, I think they'd make a good couple too, but you've been trying to get them together since you were nine, I don't think it's meant to be" she laughs
"I guess" I groan
"So where's you and Austin go?"
"To get his oil change"
"Yeah right!" She scoffs "I know Austin well enough to know that he did not take you there, what'd you guys do?"
"He told you the truth"
My mom gives me the look
"We went to an arcade" I sigh
"Don't worry, I'm not going to punish you for that" mom chuckles "can you open the door please?" She says as the bell rings
"Hi sel!"
"Hi twinkle toes! How's that jaw? Are you feeling better?"
"Yeah, but I'm still grounded" I groan
"Don't worry, I'll try to talk your mom out of it" she winks "maybe we can get her really drunk and I'll convince her to leave you alone" she chuckles

"Hey! Congratulations on your new release!" Sel greets me handing me some flowers and a bottle of wine
"Thank you Sel!"
"I know I'm a little bit early but I just wanted to hang out, I've missed you"
"I've missed you too! There's so much we have to talk about" I say leading her to the living room "do you want some wine?"
"Yeah"
"Okay I'll be right back" I say and go into the kitchen to open a bottle of wine
I walk into the living room with the two glasses of wine and find Selena on the couch with a book
"OH MY GOD TAYLOR!" She giggles "what the hell have you been reading?" She laughs
"What?" I ask confused
"You and Travis have really been-" she saying holding up the closed book on her hand laughing
"Oh no, that's not mine"
"It's on your coffee table, who else would it belong to" she giggles
"Oh no-"
"Oh come on, it wouldn't be the first time we talk about our sex lives" she laughs "I know that little football player of yours has you head over heels, but you guys are in to this? marry him yesterday" she laughs
