Rachel's p/v
The more I think the less I do anything. If he's going to return to my life then he needs to know that it's what I truly want. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, and a glass of orange juice. Maybe he'll think of this morning whenever he has the urge to doubt me or question me.Darry walks out of his room. My spine hurts.
"Morning." He whispers as he walks towards the fridge. I clear my throat. Nothing.
"I made breakfast."
He turns around. Does he want to smile?
"Thank you. I appreciate it a lot."
I half smile. It's hard to smile too. He sits next to me at the table. This is the first meal we've had together in this house in a very long time. I'll say enough to get me through this moment. Intentions matter more than I used to think they did."Button up costed me 25 euros. Ireland shops kept me on my toes every time I laid my eyes on the dressing room."
"I need to direct a short film about it. Can you pull off an Irish accent?"
"Resurrect Richard Harris for me and I'll even be able to Irish dance for ya."
"Thought you only watched musicals."
"You're killing me, smalls."
Declan looks at me. "Alright there, kid?"
"We didn't say a word to each other."
"Quit with the cryptic talking. Is this Darry we're talking about?"
"I just want my brother back. I made him breakfast. The least he can do is start a conversation with me. 'Thank you. I appreciate it a lot' and 'I'll meet you in the car' isn't fulfilling."
"Love, I know you don't want to beg for his attention but at this rate it's what you're going to have to do. You're not even begging, you're just telling him how you feel."
"I already did that and it got us nowhere. He needs to get the hint. Until then, I'm going to keep doing these type of gestures. Even if his mouth feels taped, I'm going to make him scream."
"If you could only let me speak to him for 5 seconds-"
"We're doing this the civil way, Declan. I don't want to argue anymore."
"Never thought I'd hear this coming from you. It's like you didn't plant that fish in his bed."
"And he never gave you shit for it."
"Because he deserved it. Now I want to be nice for once. Is that so unheard of me, Declan?"
"You know that's not what I meant. This is just a side of you that I haven't seen. You're friends with Mary, like who would've thought."
"Where is she anyway?" I look around the room. Did I say something wrong?
"Looking off into space. Not her phone in sight. Yeah, she doesn't have a partner for the assignment and doesn't know how to go around it."
"I'm going to be her partner. Boom, problem solved."
"But the teacher said we can work in pairs of three-oh, there she goes."I sit next to Mary. She smiles and looks at me.
"I recon you're not here to compliment my awesome backpack."
"Are you and Jenna matching? I could've sworn I saw her with a Monster High backpack."
"Yeah, we are. The plan was to dress like one of them too but I unfortunately do not own any fetus Harry Styles inspired clothing. Jenna also does not own
pink boots. We'll get em next time."
"Let's talk more over the assignment. The seat in front of Declan is empty now that Carter caused too much ruckus."
"He'll have to claim his seat soon. I doubt the teacher can handle him sitting at her desk for the rest of the school year."
"Then we'll convince her to move him to your seat in the corner. I don't know why you haven't made any friends yet. People adore your outfits!"
"That's all they like about me. I get compliments but never any 'so let's be friends'. Not like you, you meet someone new every single day."
"Then let's meet people together! Sit with us, Mary. Declan and Tyler will be on their best behavior."
"I don't care what they have to say about me, I can fight back. It'll just make things awkward for you."
"Then can we at least be partners for every assignment? This will be you and me time."
"Deal. Fair warning, I'm only on question 10 so far."
"I'm on one."
Mary giggles. "What have you and boys been doing?"
"They've been working on the questions and talking about the weddings they've been to. I'm lost in my head."
"Why don't you go back to them for the answers and then report back to me."
I get up from the seat. "The things I do for my Elvis."
"Love you, Priscilla!"
