Rachel's p/v
"Rose garden tea, my specialty." Mary pours some into my teacup.
"We better eat our breakfast quickly before Mrs. Holt realizes we aren't in the cafeteria."
"Or that we snuck out at 5 am to prepare our own breakfast."
"I want to risk my life with you every single day. We make good partners in crime. Everyone was right when they said that we'd make great friends."
"Who should we thank? Tyler for messing with our heads or Jonathan for messing with my head. Though, I do take accountability for the my faults."
"And I take accountability for being bitter that he chose you."
"But I rubbed it in your face. You seemed like another bully to me when I was the bully. Attack first before they can attack you."
"We both have changed in similar ways. We care less about what others think of us."
"True that. Let's plan our agenda for the day, Bonnie."
"I'm assuming you're Clyde?"
"Egotistical and short for my bold personality. In middle school, Jonathan's friends used to call us Bonnie and Clyde. He was Clyde though, but now I'm taking the title."
"Be my guest. So what shenanigans are we getting ourselves into, Clyde?"
"Finish off the workshop strong, perform today with our big voices, have lunch at Disney, thrift in Orange County, then visit a desert."
"A desert. You really want to live out your hippie dreams."
"Ringo Starr has nothing on me. Want to help me convince Mrs. Holt to take us to a desert?"
"Mary, I don't think we'll have time for that. Can't we make that desert trip a summer trip instead?"
"I'm not opposed to the idea. Ok, we'll settle with thrifting in Orange County. You're going to love the antique mall. I got the couch in my room from there."
"Really? Your couch is so cute, no wonder it's vintage."
"From the 70s, baby. Are we ready to leave this little garden?"
"But we haven't even finished our tea!"
"Let's drink it on the way back to our room. We don't want the hotel staff to kick us out for hosting a tea party in their garden."
"If they don't want fairy tell princesses to have a tea party in their garden then they shouldn't have a garden in the first place!"
"I love you for that, Rachel. You're definitely Belle."
"What? You're the one who reads like 5 books in a day."
"I always associated myself with Cinderella. I hate that I have a story about Jonathan for everything."
"Spill, please."She looks down at our blanket. "For whatever reason I made Cinderella my profile picture on Instagram for a few months. Sara and her minions obviously bullied me for it, so I changed it. Jonathan then dressed up as prince charming the following Monday and gave me these 90s Cinderella vinyl heels. I had been eyeing them for a while, but I didn't think Jonathan even knew what Poshmark was. Anyway, I still have the heels somewhere in my bio dad's house. Looks like I have another item to donate."
"Mary, you can't donate them, even if Jonathan gave you them. They symbolize something beautiful he saw in you. And it's not that he recognized it, it's that you were recognized for being authentically you. Please keep them."
"I'll bring them back to my house. My bio dad is moving to California but he's in Florida right now for a fitting. His team is nominated for a CDFA fashion award."
"Holy shit, your bio dad is a celebrity. Why aren't you more popular at school I swear. You have such an interesting life."
"My bio dad is barely making his big break, and I'm a geek at core with no social skills. Also, sorry to change the conversation but how hasn't Mrs. Holt-"Our phones ring. Erica is calling Mary, and Mrs. Holt is calling me.
"Tea on the way to getting our ears yelled at?"
"Uh-uh." Mary turns pale. I look at where she's looking. A staff member is walking towards us. We quickly get up and run out of the garden.Darry's p/v
Hector's mom thought it was important that I take the day off because of my injury. What am I supposed to do when my sister and unofficial girlfriend is in another state? Hector is at work, Nigel is out of town, and all my other friends are either at work or recovering from an all night party. I guess I could visit my old friend Kyle, haven't seen him in a while. For now, I'll just scroll on Instagram and Twitter because I never have the time to do that.
