Aria's POV

"Gosh, I feel so deprived of energy." Utica groaned, hanging her head. Cider was doing the same as Elsie and I just stared at our lines blankly. It's Monday, and all of the sports (and musical) tryout results were in. Elsie got the lead, no doubt about that, but even though I'm sound tech, I still have to remember lines so I'll know when to play songs or remind someone who forgot their line.

It was funny to see the girls whining about their soccer practice. They were worked to the bone, and now, they're suffering from hangover. Work hangover. See kids? This is why I don't do sports. The coaches are evil little gremlins, the kids on the team are evil little gremlin childs (yes, I mean childs), and whenever you ask to get a drink of water, the coach is all like, "Suck it up! That's one hundred more effing laps for you!" Am I right?

Anyways, Cider and Utica had just gotten back from practice, and now we were all sitting in a booth at Coco's, a downtown bakery-diner. Elsie and Cider work here, but they were allowed a twenty-minute break to congratulate their achievements.

"Mmm!" Utica moaned, biting into her chocolate crescent. I licked my lips as I ate the toasty cinnamon roll that warmed up my mouth with just a single touch. Cider and Elsie shared a double-dip hot fudge sundae, and they also had root beer floats. "What?" Elsie asked once she caught me raising an eyebrow.

"It's my cheat day!" I laughed, choking slightly on my cinnamon roll. Cider patted my back until I felt the bit jolt back onto my tongue. I split it out into a napkin and threw it under the table, because you can't deny that we all do that. Seriously, we all do that.

"Hey, I'm gonna go to the restroom. Touch my baby and you die." Utica said, walking away. Elsie smirked and broke a small piece of Ui's crescent and popped it into her mouth, moaning in delight. "I'm getting this next time." she drooled, also licking her lips. Cider and I laughed, but we were cut off when three girls approached our table. I bit my lip, knowing who they were.

"Well well well. If it isn't the lunatic and her Witness Protection." Kendra fist-bumped Aspen and Micki as they snorted their "fancy" laughter. "Gawd, what do you want, girls?" Elsie sighed, nudging closer to me. Cider sat on the other side glaring at Micki. They must have a past with the girls too...At least I'm not alone.

"Well, we just wanted to congratulate you all on becoming friends with Ui. She really must've took so much pity on you that she decided to fake being your friend just to make you feel decent." Aspen smiled her usual innocent smile. Making me flip her off under the table. Her face was so punchable, it seemed to have the perfect shape to fit my fists, or anyone else's for that matter.

"Utica's not pitying us. She respects us as people and came up to us." Cider clenched her fist on the table.

"Because she's pitying you." Micki finished.

Kendra grabbed Ui's crescent before Cider could grab it and gave it to Micki, who threw it in the trash can next to the door. "Hey! That's Ui's!" I hissed as Micki took her stance next to Kendra again. "Oh no! What will she say about her friends eating her food? She might just kill you for us." Kendra gawked fauxly and we all groaned.

"Now, if it's all the same to you we'd like to say hi to our best friend." Aspen smiled sweetly.

"...Ui?" We asked in unison. Aspen nodded drunkenly.

"Ha! Ui would never associate herself with the likes of you!" Cider laughed.

"Hey, guys!" A familiar high-pitched squeal chirped as she approached the table. Ui.

"Hey, girl! What're you doing here?" Kendra hugged her, and I flipped her off as well.

"Oh, just getting a bite to eat. We came to say hi to your friends and you." Micki chimed in, smiled.
