I never thought I'd be here again. It's been quite a while, but I still know my way around quite well. For some reason, I just couldn't stay away this time. The GP at Silverstone. The last time I was here, which is almost 3 years ago, I was dating Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo. Not too long after that, we broke up. Not because we stopped loving each other, but because our lives got in the way of our relationship.

With Daniel being an F1 driver and me having a high function at a book publisher in London, we hardly had time to see each other. This was very hard on both of us and eventually caused us to split up, even though neither of us wanted to.

I haven't been to a GP since we broke up, but this time I just had to go. I had to see him again, even if it was just from a distance. I didn't tell anyone I planned on going and went here by myself. I always loved watching Daniel race and that hasn't changed. I know how much he loves it, which makes it amazing to watch.

I wander through the paddock, not even knowing why I got myself a ticket that allowed me to be here. It's not like I want to talk to Daniel, I just want to see him again. I want to see if he's happy. Sure, I could watch from home, but that's different. I want to see it with my own eyes. Maybe then I can find some peace.

"Y/N?" I hear someone say behind me, making me stop walking. I know it isn't Daniel, I would've recognize his voice anywhere. But this is a close second. I turn around and face a smiling Max Verstappen.

"Hey Max."

"What are you doing here?"

"To be honest, I'm not even sure myself."

"Are you here for Daniel?"

"Not really," I say, making Max look at me confused.

"Then why are you here?"

"I want to see if he's doing well, if he's happy. Really happy I mean."

"He is, it's a well-known fact."

"I know, but I just have to see it with my own eyes."

"Do you want me to tell him you're here?"

"No, please don't. I don't want to open up old wounds, I just," I say, not really knowing what I exactly want.

"You want to see him again, but you don't want him to see you?"

"Basically," I say, glad Max understands.

"My lips are sealed. But I have to say, Daniel would love to see you again."

"I know, same here. But it's just too painful."

"I understand. Well, I hope to see you around again, it was always a lot of fun," Max says before walking off. I sigh, remembering all the times I went to races with Daniel. Max is right, we always had a lot of fun.

I continue walking through the paddock, heading towards my seat as the race is about to begin. I know Daniel has a good spot on the grid and I know there are podium chances for him. I just hope that he ends up on the podium again, he deserves it so much.

"Hey Y/N! What are you doing here? Come on, hurry, the race is about to begin," Stuart, Daniel's trainer says as he starts pulling me towards the garage.

"No, no, I'm not going to the garage," I protest, but Stuart is having none of it.

"Of course you are, Daniel is probably already gone by the time we get to the garage, but that's okay. He'll be so happy to see you after the race."

"But I don't want to see him."

"BS, of course you do," Stuart says and by now, we're in the Red Bull garage, on Daniel's side. Oh the memories, so much has happened here.
