29 - The Day Before the Tournament

In a blink of an eye, 10 months have passed and the Interacademic Tournament will start in about a day. Yulrir continued his closed-door training under the watchful guidance of Terra. The duo wasted no time on honing Yulrir's magic arts while toughening his body's physical prowess. Yulrir didn't dare attend other academic lessons brought up by other instructors or elders for he knew that his own master, Terra is more than enough. It is like 'biting more than you can chew'. He also gave his whole trust on Terra when it comes on mastering which magic skills and techniques he would wield.

During the span of time, Yulrir successfully attained the peak of 8th elementary layer warrior's toughness and prowess. He is only a hair strand away from attaining the 9th layer. He is only quite disappointed for he still isn't able to use warrior qi to use warrior techniques and skills. He can only rely on his prowess as a warrior when it comes to physical toughness and agility since his meridians are naturally unable to absorb warrior qi. Terra assured Yulrir that despite this differences, Yulrir still has a high chance of winning the tournament by relying thoroughly in magic arts. Magic arts are more potent if you are to compare it with offensive warrior arts moreover, he'll gain advantages because magic arts can be cast in long distances, unlike warrior skills.

Yulrir successfully grasped the key behind dual incantation. This shocked Terra to the core. Yulrir had comprehended the Dual Incantation Technique to the Perfect Stages which is comparable to the stage that Terra had mastered in 5 years. Knowing this, Terra had been relieved but at the same time worried that others might cause trouble to her little disciple if someone will discover how monstrous Yulrir is. This may alarm the other so-called geniuses and may start to move against her innocent disciple.

Yulrir magic rank had successfully broken through the 8th layer of White Mage as well. It jumped 2 ranks within the span of time. This gave Yulrir more advantages in his spiritual prowess. He can now absorb more mana and store it inside his spiritual region. He had comprehended more than 30 magic arts but he mostly practiced water and wind offensive spells and metal enhancement spells as his support. Terra had strictly prohibited Yulrir to invoke lightning, time or darkness spells openly to the public to avoid unnecessary attention unless it's a life and death situation. Yulrir understood so he practiced his 3 earthly elements to the peak.

"Riri, you have to eat a lot so you can gain more strength for the tournament tomorrow! " Terra chirped in.

"Yes elder sis, that's what I intend to do!!! " Riri smiled brightly and afterward wolfed down a roasted chicken leg.

"Hahaha good, good! Elder sis had prepared a lot of food so don't worry! " Terra satisfyingly smiled.

Terra prepared a feast like lunch for them and to Yulrir's surprise, they are all his favorites. The duo had grown closer during the span of time and you can say that their relationship is like of genuine blood siblings. Terra had spoiled Yulrir a lot and like a mother goose overprotective on her babies.

"Elder sis!!! This feast is like a last feast to me! " Yulrir gawked out while eating.

Terra had flicked Yulrir's forehead and frowned. "Riri you idiot, don't say things like that. My child, this is a feast as a celebration for your breakthroughs. So behave and eat. " Terra warmly smiled at the end.

"Mhhm... I'm just kidding sorry. But if breaking through means feasts like this. I certainly hope I breakthrough more levels haha. " Yulrir chuckled.

"Silly child." Terra shook her head and chuckled.

"The tournament is tomorrow and many of the senior disciples below Saint rank are going to participate. One of them is the top outer disciple for the last 4 years, his name is Adelard Ivanov. I believe he is on the peak 9th layer of an elementary warrior, half step to saint rank. It seems like he challenged Theo to duel him in the tournament." Terra said solemnly.

"Theo? " Yulrir creased his eyebrow.

"Ah yes, he actually joined the tournament as well. It was said, he was provoked by this Adelard so had joined. You were busy with the closed door training and I didn't want you to feel disturbed so I haven't talked to you about that. " Terra said somewhat sorry.

"It's fine Elder sis, It doesn't matter who joins but rest assured I'll do my very best to win." Yulrir smiled sincerely.

Terra can't help but to get worried but she knew how strong Yulrir's willpower so she is somehow relieved and proud at the same time.

"Right. If you think that you can't defeat the opponent, don't hesitate to concede understood? " Terra said in stern voice.

"Yes, elder sis!" Yulrir nodded sincerely.

According to Terra's calculation, Yulrir's prowess is already comparable to those of the senior disciples. She is, in fact, warier on Theo joining in. She knew how stubborn and persistent the young man is and she is more worried about the wellbeing of her disciple when the two of them collide. This is why 12 years of age is already a normal mating age for cultivators. They have already developed a fully matured body by then. Also, maturity depends on one's status if Alpha, Beta or Omega. Alphas mature the fastest because their meridians are more developed and suitable for absorbing world qi which helps one's body to evolve, this is also the reason why Yulrir's body develops slowly due to his inability to absorb world qi.
