Talent show

  "shawn, we need to go to the talent show for jessica" i call out, jessica was picked up and driven to the school for the talent show since shawn needed to finish up some work.

"alright" he says coming out of his office, i smile

"i can't wait to hear jess sing, i only ever hear her humming" i say to shawn and he smiles as we drive to the school.

"i'm so proud of her hun, she has some really good talent" he says and taps his fingers on his thighs.

"i bet, do you know what song she is singing" i ask as we pull up to the school.

"no, she told me she wanted it to be a surprise" he says and i nod.

we walk into the school hand and hand and are greeted by two kids giving out pabnflits of the acts.

"thank you" i say as one hands it to me, they smile back and she says "enjoy the show!"

"ok let's try and get up in the front" i say to shawn and he nods, but as we walk into the gym it's filled with parents. we find a seat that's in the middle but we could still see well.

"i'm so nervous" i say tapping my foot.

"why? she's going to do fine" he says smiling at me.

"i know she is, but i don't want kids to make fun of her" i say and shawn puts his hand on my face and leans down to kiss me.

"trust me, they won't" he smiles and i nod.

"shawn! hey man" a guy next to us says shaking his hand.

"oh my gosh! jason how are you man? what's your kid doing?" shawn asks and i turn my head not wanting to really hear their conversation.

"hey shelly" i say and the woman turns her head smiling.

"y/n!" you look amazing dear! how's it going?" she asks kissing my cheek.

"it's going great so far, jessica is going to be singing" i say and her jaw drops.

"following in the footsteps of her dad?" she chuckles.

"like father like daughter" i laugh.

"hello! and welcome to our school talent show!" a boy says, the room goes dead silent and everyone is facing his way.

"our first act for tonight is jessica singing, life of the party!" he says and shawn immediately jumps out of his chair.

"YEAH JESS YOU GO GIRL! SING YOUR LITTLE HEART OUT" he screams and she shakes her head.

"dad, please stop" she laughs, and everyone laughs along.

i wave to her and she smiles.

"so i just wanted to say something, i'm detecting this song to my parents, my dad wrote this tune about my mom and its shown me what true love really looks like, i love you guys" she says smiling like crazy. a tear comes to my eye and shawn smiles giving her a thumbs up, everyone in the crowd awed.
