The letters

Merry Christmas!! I thought I would update as a little Christmas gift. Shoutout to AlyLovesBooks for making the awesome new cover for this book. I love it! Thanks so much!

"You want to tell her or should I" jace asks. "You probably should. You are the one who talked to her first. And faeries seem to like you better" I say. He nods. "I will see you in the office when you get done" I say. He walks in seraphinas room. I turn to the guard outside of her door. "You can leave now. We are setting her free." He nods and walks down the hall and out of sight. I turn and start walking down the castle halls towards the office.

I sit down at the table and start looking at the stack of papers from the clave and institutes. I pull out the letter on the top and open it. It is from the london institute. I start reading the letter when a fire message appears in front of me. I open it and see it is from the Carstairs. It says 'Hi clary. We are so happy to hear that. We are now going to have a little prince or princess. The baby will be beautiful. We have both talked to your mom and luke. We would like to know if you want us to come up to Alicante or what you would like to do for when the baby is born? We would love to see you guys as well as the baby when it is born. Please write us back when you get the chance. I know you are busy. Love and miss you both, Jem, Logan and tessa.' I smile when I read it.

I hear a knock on the door. "Come in" I say. Simon walks in. "Hey, i'm heading back to the academy. I dont feel like dealing with Scarsbury but I need to sooner rather than later." I stand up and walk over to him. "You gonna be alright" I ask. "Yeah. Don't worry about me. I will be fine. You take care of yourself and that baby. I don't want either of you getting hurt" he says. I smile a little. "Don't worry about me." "Speaking of the baby how did it go with telling jace last night?" "Oh it was fine. He was a little surprised but it was fine. I will let you know what we are going to do when it comes around time for the baby to be born. I will send you a fire message and get you out of the academy. Or at least I will try" I say. "Okay that sounds good. Thanks for letting me stay over clary. I appreciate it." "Of course. If you need me or anything just let me know" I say. He laughs and says "I will." He gives me a small hug then heads out.

I'm sitting at the desk looking at the papers for the London institute. Jace walks in and looks over my shoulder. "Hey clary" he says. I turn to look at him. "We should probably set out a guard or two at lake Lyn because with the mortal sword and cup missing  something really bad could happen." "That's true. We can tell Josten to send someone to the lake to keep watch and make sure nothing happens down at the lake." I move and go to the couch and he sits at the desk. I don't feel like doing much work today. We sit in the office for a while.
                     
A fire message appears and jace catches it before it reaches it before it hits the desk. He opens it and reads it. His eyes narrow as he reads it. "When did this happen" he asks. I turn to look at him and say "when did what happen?" "When did you apply to SCAD?" "Oh uhh I applied a long time ago before I graduated from high school. Why?" "Here" he says and gives me the letter. I snatch it and read. It says 'hi clary. I didn't expect the baby to happen so soon but I knew it was bound to happen. You remember how you sent a college application to SCAD years ago because you wanted to get out of New York for a while? I got an email and a letter from them. They both said the same thing but it says that even though you applied years ago, they would love to have you at their school. They also said they were sorry that they didn't get a chance to accept earlier. I know you are busy and have probably totally forgotten about it. I'm just writing to let you know what came. -mom'.

"Clary" jace says and I look up from the letter at him. "Why didn't you tell me you applied to art school?" "I applied 5 years ago. It was our senior year of high school. I knew you hadn't applied anywhere but I still wanted to try for art school. I tried and sent an application in but never got anything back. I waited and waited and never got anything back. I gave up and forgot all about it. I'm surprised they have the application still." "You could still go you know" he says. "No I can't. I have to help you here, we have the entire shadow world to lead, we are married, and to top off my list of reasons I have a baby coming. I can't think about art school now. I've just got too much to think about. Plus I'm not leaving you to do everything by yourself."

He smiles a sweet smile. "Clary, love, I understand. But I mean if you've always wanted to go to art school we can let you go. I will miss you so much but I will be alright." "I would feel bad for leaving you to do everything by yourself. And I would miss you too much. It's not even in New York." "Well where is it?" "It's in Atlanta Georgia. It's on the other end of the U.S. from where New York is. I couldn't stand to be that far from you. At the time when I applied I didn't think much of leaving you and Izzy and Simon, I just wanted to get out of New York and fly south." He nods and says "whatever you decide to do love, go ahead." I nod. "I love you" I say.

We stay in the office for a while longer. We get some more of the things and papers done for the clave and other institutes. "You ready for dinner" I ask him. "Yeah. Let's talk to josten first about the lake first" he says. I nod. We walk out of the office.

We look through The castle. It takes a while but we find josten outside on the training grounds. Me and jace walk up to him. "Your majesties, what can I do for you?" "You know how the sword and the cup is missing" I say. "Yes ma'am" he says. "And this is dangerous, especially if both items are in the wrong hands, something very bad could happen. We think it would be a good idea if a guard or two were posted at the lake to check out and make sure nothing happens" jace says. "That is a good idea. I don't know why I never thought about it before. I will post a few of my best trained men at the lake. I will have them keep watch over it for you both. Go on and eat dinner. Take care of yourself clary, we can't have anything happen to you or that little baby" he says. "Wait, how did you know" I ask. I didn't think anyone knew about that yet. "I have my ways. the maids hear all. Now don't worry about anything Mrs. clary. I will take care of the lake and the two of you go on to dinner" he says. Me and jace say thanks and walk back to the castle.

We eat dinner. I can now pack a lot in since I am technically eating for two, myself and this baby. Me and jace leave the dining hall. "I'm going to go for a walk" I tell him. "Where are you going to go" he asks me. "Just to Alicante. I will be back before you go to bed. I want to finish that book and I know you have been waiting to finish it too. Don't touch it until I get back" I say. "I won't. I like having you read to me. How many chapters do we have left?" "Only two. We might be able to start the second one tonight get a couple of chapters in." "Okay good. I really want to know who it is that is after the stone. I will see you when you get back love" He says and gives me a kiss on the cheek. "Bye Jace" I say and leave through the castle doors and head down the stone path.

I start walking through the city. People look at me but don't do anything. One little girl and boy come up to me. I'm guessing they are bother and sister. The boy looks a little older than her. I notice by their pointed ears that they are fey. I'm not sure exactly sure what kind of fey but they definitely are.
