"Fan Rei is dead," A small figure knelt on one knee and reported to the man behind the desk, face down. "She can no longer threaten your position. The one occupying Fan Rei's body now is from another realm." She seemed to be delivering good news by the lift in her voice.
The imposing man behind the deso slowly leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. "You've been followed."
"Wha...? Impossible!" The small figure, Chen Mei Xui, began scrambling around to look for who'd snuck passed her senses. Around the room, out the window and onto the roof, she was still unable to sense what he'd noticed.
Could she still call herself a good fighter?
He got up and picked up a pup that had been following her.
"That's...!" Chen Mei Xiu recognized it immediately as Fan Rei's spirit animal. Her training didn't include hiding her trail from animals or beasts. After all, they couldn't tell anyone what they say, right?
The man recognized it as well. "I'll take care of this. You should return before anyone notices. Good work."
"Do you mean...?"
He nodded, "You have done your job. Your tribe will be spared, as for power to protect... you are in the best school in the realm. Learn well."
Chen Mei Xiu lit up. She hadn't thought that she would ever be freed from this mercilassman's hold. And with an added bonus, they would no longer need to rely on the kings to protect them. They would no longer be powerless to fight! "Yes!" She bowed, hands clasped as low as her flexible form would allow her too. "Thank you!" She spoke her true feelings on the brink of tears.
"Thanking me for making your a murderer and wanted criminal? No need." Leaving those words behind he left the room, pup in his arms.
Chen Mei Xiu bowed once more before retreating out the way she'd come.
