Okay, this is a very personal one shot, so it isn't a request. Those I will write from tomorrow on again, but I had to clear my mind and I figured I could do it by writing. Eventually, this song did it already, but by the time it had, I was already a few paragraphs in, so I thought I could as well finish it.

You stared at your phone, shocked, not sure of what to do. You had just walked out of the building you worked at and was going through all of your texts when one, in particular, caught your attention. You stared at it, your heart shattering into a million pieces, if not more. You just stood there, next to your bike, earplugs already in your ears because you were about to go home. The only thing you could think of was to call Charles. You needed to hear his voice, his reassuring words.

"Y/n, why are you calling me? Do you have a flat tire again?" Earlier that week you had called him because you had a flat tire, that was also just after work.

"Can you come and pick me up?" Your voice sounded weak and fragile and Charles immediately knew something much more serious was up.

"Y/n, what's going on?!" Worry was clearly audible in his voice.

"Just come. Please?" You didn't want to burst out into tears right there, not when you were alone and not when so many people were around you.

"I'll be there in a few minutes." The house you and Charles had recently bought together wasn't that far away, so Charles would be there soon, even though there was quite a lot of traffic that night.

Around ten minutes later, Charles parked his car in the parking lot and you walked straight into his arms.

"What is wrong chéri?" You started to sob and Charles rubbed your back and you kept on sobbing. He didn't push you into telling what was wrong. "Why don't you go and sit in the car while I get your bike. Where are your keys?"

"In my bike." Charles gently pushed you towards the car and gave you the keys. You got in on the passenger's side and hid your face in your hands, continuing to sob. After Charles had put your bike in the car, he got behind the wheel, placing his hand on your shoulder, making you look up. Your make up was already smudged all over your face and your eyes were bloodshot.

"Please talk to me?" You gave him your phone and he unlocked it, to look at the message in a group chat that had shocked you so much.

F/n: With a broken heart I have to tell you my sister has died

"Wait, her sister was a friend of yours too right?!" You nodded. "Oh y/n." He said, wrapping you up in his arms, engulfing you in a tight hug, making you cry all over again. You couldn't believe she was gone, she was still so young, had a full life ahead of her, how could it end just like that?

For a while, you said like that and when your sobs died out Charles lets go of you and drove the two of you home. You took your phone and plugged the AUX-cable into it. You needed to listen to some music. You put on 'Reckless Love'. It was a song you and f/n used to listen to a little ago and somehow, you really needed to listen to it right then and there.

Softly you sang along to the words.

"No shadow you won't light up, mountain you won't climb up, coming after me. No wall you won't kick down, lie you won't tear down, coming after me."

Charles took your hand and gently squeezed in it. Halfway the second time you listened to it Charles parked the car. The two of you got out of the car and walked straight into the house and dropped down on the couch. You cuddled into Charles. "I love you." You sobbed. "Please don't ever make me lose you too." Charles got tears in his eyes himself. He knew how this felt, how it felt to lose someone you care about. He knew that right now, all he could do was hold her, he couldn't help mend her aching heart, or calm her mind from all the questions.

"You won't lose me, ever." For as far as possible, you got even closer to Charles. "Don't ever think of crashing and dying, or crashing and ending up getting hurt, not in a Formula One car and not in a road car, not even on a bike." Charles chuckled slightly.

"I can't promise you anything, you know that, but I will certainly do my best. I won't take any risks on track, not unnecessary anyway." You nodded. You could live with that, that was until he actually would get hurt.

Charles got the remote, which was within his reach and turned on the tv and opened YouTube on it. He knew what the song was called and he turned it on. You listened to it, your eyes closed and you slowly calmed down again, both because of the music and Charles soothing words and his hand which rubbed circles on your back.

"Oh the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.

Oh it chases me down, fights till I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine.

I couldn't earn it, I don't deserve it, still you give yourself away.

Oh the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God."
