Chapter 49 - Demon Lord VS Demon Lord (2)

It somehow reminded me of the surprise attacks of the girls I met in the Boundary of Life and Death. The rain of slashes approached me from all direction. There were some magic arrows mixed in from the gap of their formation and sometimes a surprise attack came from Lucio's magic. Even I managed to harm any of them, the priest puppet healed them in a flash while the mage puppet gave a covering fire so that I couldn't disturb her healing.

"What a troublesome teamwork."

I grumbled. I leaped around as I parried the attacks using Garm's help. I activated my illusion to fool them. The formation didn't break at all. Even the illusion also affected Lucio, it was ineffective against the puppets.

"What's wrong? Where's your earlier confidence?"

Lucio mocked me. I gritted my teeth and kicked the ground with full power and managed to make some distance from them and landed at the rubble. However, I widened my eyes when I saw Lucio's smirk. I looked upward. A large scale magic was heading toward me.

Without any second thought, I summoned my Regalia. I stabbed the banner into the ground. The absolute barrier spread and protected me from the mass murdering spell.

"Wha-"

She was shocked when the magic ended. I grinned at her shocked expression. Holy Aura was activated as soon as I summoned my Regalia. It was showing her my identity as a Hero.

"Y-Y-Y-You are a Hero!!?"

She stuttered. I pulled the banner with my left hand.

"Yes, what of it?"

I asked her. She gritted her teeth.

"Is that the end of your attack?"

I asked her. She looked frustrated.

"To think a hero would appear out of nowhere like this... I guess I have to end you regardless the previous reason."

She said.

"Is that so? Then do your best."

I said. I poured my mana to the rubbles under me. The chunks of stones suddenly moved. It rose and formed a beast body of stone. It had the shape of an elephant with the size of ten times of the original.

"To think you can summon a behemoth as your servant... It seems like you're not like the other puny heroes I heard from Farma's Messengers."

She praised. After creating the behemoth golem, I had my mana reduced to half. I reached for my pocket and took out the mana potion from inside. I poured the content into my throat.

"Oho... it seems like you're out of gas already huh? I guess my victory is close."

She said.

"I wonder about that..."

I replied. I shook my banner three times. It shone and changed shape from the cloth banner into a metallic tower shield with the Harmony Insignia engraved on the surface. The behemoth advanced. It was rather slow. Lucio laughed at it.

"What are you planning with that slow beast?"

She mocked. She fired her spells at me. I blocked them with my shield with ease. I glanced at the puppets. They were earnestly attacked the behemoth. The behemoth was slow but it had high vitality and regenerative ability. I doubt it would fall soon.

I kept putting my shield in front of me as I received the barrage of magic with it. I watched the melee dolls were smashing the body and legs around with their weapons. The behemoth but ignored them and moved closer and closer toward the rear guard of the dolls as well as the support group. But, before it could reach them, the behemoth crumbled down.

"AHahahahahahaha, look!! Your trump card has been destroyed!!"

She mocked. I just smirked and clicked my fingers. The collapsed body parts of the behemoth suddenly trembled. They suddenly moved in smooth motion and gathered into a single spot while dragging anything which stood in their way which were the dolls. The melee dolls and the archer doll was swept by the rubbles and got swallowed into the body of the behemoth.

"Wha-!!"

Seeing that she was shocked. Taking a chance of her got off guard; I leaped toward her and rammed her small body with my shield. Holy element shockwave spread from the impact.

"Milord, I understand that you are also a hero, but, can you reduce the output of holy waves around us? It felt bit odd for a being of darkness like me to fight alongside the elements of light."

Garm protested.

Lucio got knocked off from her broom and crashed into the ground. With light element attack, I bet she just received a massive amount of damage.

She tried to raise her body. She glared at me. The miasma leaked out of her body which indicated that she was about to use her Daemon Arms.

"KYUIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Suddenly I heard a cute sound of a baby dragon heading towards me. I turned toward the source. A white dragon with the size of a puppy was flying toward me at high speed. The dragon head butted me on the chest and I crashed to the nearby trees. I dispelled my regalia and put Garm down on the ground.

"Kyuiii!!"

It rubbed its cheek on my chest happily. I smiled and gently patted its head.

"I am back, Lily."

I said.

"Kyii!!"

It cried.

"Lily!!!! Mou!! Wait for me!!"

I heard a familiar voice from the distance. She was heading towards me. She stopped her run when our eyes met. It seems like she couldn't remember me just like Karina.

"Umm... Is my familiar bothering you?"

She asked timidly. I wanted to correct her about how she called her daughter but I stopped. I smiled and approached her. I switched my eyes into the magic sensory mode. I saw black cloud was lingering around her head. It was then I sensed a spell heading toward me from Lucio. I gathered my mana and created a barrier with a magic circle. This witch is really annoying.

"U-Umm..."

She was at lost. Lilliana climbed to my shoulder. I faced her. I silently activated my Demon Lord Authority. Dark mist came out from my right hand.

"Spell Decay"

I muttered as I touched Alicia's head as if brushing some dirt from her hair. The black cloud vanished upon touching my hand. Alicia's gaze changed in instant. Her eyes widened and tears slowly gathering around her eyes.

"I'm home, Alicia."

I said to her.

"R-R-Ren-sama!!!!!!"

She tackled me. We both fell to the ground. She hugged me tight as she rubbed her face to my chest while calling my name over and over.

"O-O-O-Oi, th-tha-tha-that power. Isn't it th-the power of a demon lord?!"

Lucio stuttered in disbelieve when she saw my ability.

"Yeah, it is. It has been a while, Invidia. I think it has been... etto, when was the last summit?"

I greeted her as if nothing had happened. Lucio's jaw dropped.

"Ah, since my family is fine, I will stop my rampage right here."

I said. I snapped my finger and the behemoth disappeared in a flash.

"Ugh!!"

A groan came from nearby. Karina was tossed to the ground by the gryphon I summoned. Similar black cloud was present on her head. I sighed and gathered the miasma into my fist. I gave her the dispelling magic along with the hard fist into her head. Karina apologized over and over throughout the day after that but I ignored her as I spent my time with my family.
