-Ava's POV-

I suck in a deep breath as I take in Harry standing across the room, staring at me as if I'm a ghost.

My mind is a jumbled mess, trying to think of what to say to explain myself. I curse myself for eying him up and down, but it can't be helped.

God he looks hot. He's wearing his usual black skinny jeans and brown boots paired with a black tank top and black and white polka dot over-shirt. His hair is pushed back by a bandana, but it's wet from sweat, some of his long curls sticking to his face and neck.

I quickly clamp my mouth shut, afraid to be seen drooling over him.

His eyes are wide as he stands there, obviously surprised to see me here. Looks like Liam failed to mention I may be coming tonight.

"Ava." He says, finally finding his voice.

"Liam invited me." I blurt out as I swiftly stand up.

He doesn't respond, just watching me as I grab my bag off the floor.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come. I don't know what I was thinking. He just asked me and I thought... I don't know what I was thinking." I ramble off.

"You already said that."

I look up at his face, finding a smirk spread across it. He looks me up and down and I feel my cheeks blush instantly.

"I should go." I move past him, grabbing ahold of the door handle and pulling it open. I jump as a large hand is placed on the door, slamming it back shut.

"I need to know something." He says, his voice low.

I gulp and turn towards him. He towers over me and I feel my body heat up as he looks down at me. I instantly take a step back, trying to put some distance between us. His smell is intoxicating and I need to get away from it.

"I've been driving myself mad thinking about it all day. Now that you're here, I need to know."

"Know what?" I question, feeling flushed.

"Do you want me to leave you alone?"

"What?" I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. It's not like he's been trying to see me, so where is this coming from?

"I heard your song."

"What song?"

"The one about me." He looks deep into my eyes, and I quickly look away.

"How did you..." My voice fades off as realization hits me. Liam. He brought him to the studio last night. Damn him.

"Did you mean what you said? You want me to just let you be?"

"Harry, I..."

He cuts me off, "I know you told me to leave you alone. And I have, for more than a bloody year. But you still want nothing to do with me?"

His voice sounds pained, making my heart hurt. My eyes meet his and I feel even worse.

"I didn't mean you." I say quietly, "I meant my feelings about it all."

"What feelings?" He asks, searching my eyes for an answer.

"Confusing ones." I admit.

He nods, looking down at his feet. I can tell he's waging an inner battle with himself, but I have no idea about what. He opens his mouth to speak but closes it. Silence engulfs us as he stares at the floor with a frown on his face.

"Can we try being friends?" He quickly asks, his gaze shooting back up to meet my own.

I widen my eyes in surprise. This was the last thing I was expecting to happen tonight.

He bites his lip as he waits for my response.

Should I really do this? Will being just friends with him be to hard for me? Or will it be good for me? I miss him. And not just the Harry I slept next to at night. I miss the Harry who joked around with me and shared my secrets. I miss my best friend. God I hope I don't live to regret this.

"Friends." I nod.

"Friends." He repeats, a dimpled smile spreading across his face.

Oh Ava, what have you gotten yourself into now?
